WBC refusing to work with Boxrec

Post by handsofstone »

Until they start recognizing the Bridgerweight division, good on Boxrec/John etc, don't bow down to that cancer that is Sulaiman, they've already binned the Franchise belt, hopefully Boxrec stand firm here, id like to see Boxrec ignore all WBC fights from now on including, Silver, Interim, International as well as the full title

Fck the lot of them

In an ideal world, they should refuse to list all regular, interim, silver, intercontinental, international titles etc from all bodies. Just list them as 10 or 12 round contests.

We all know that they are nonsense and only used by promoters as a way of essentially buying a ranking. Same goes for WBO/IBF european belts etc. They should recognise the EBU belt and that alone when it comes to Euro belts.

Agreed, would also like to see undisputed guys like Canelo, Crawford, Haney and Jermell bin all belts as soon as they cleaned up, paying needless sanctioning fees when everyone knows their no1, would be a great statement and a big fck you to the lot of them

In all fairness to the WBC, BoxRec does mention titles like WBU Super Cruiserweight and the NABC Super Heavyweight.

Agree with the OP.
Except I'm too old to "Fck the lot of them" and may have to carefully select a few in order to "Fck some of them" :TU:

What does it mean in that the WBC won’t support Boxrec? Surely Boxrec can still list the WBC titles they wish. What’s the issue for Boxrec?

Yeh. Promoters will do the job if a fight is made and a WBC belt is at stake.

There’s plenty of places to find out who’s boxing and when and what belts are on the line.

What does this exactly mean that ‘WBC will refuse to work with BoxRec’ ?

To what capacity?

Seems like a nothing post to me.
How have they been working with BoxRec until this point?

Tbh I never thought much about what it actually means when I wrote the OP, just seen a tweet earlier quoting Mauricio, it won't mean much but just another example of them being shithouses

I do hope that whatever Mauricio wants he doesn't get from Boxrec, but I wonder. Does this affect the site or the ranking in anyways? Perhaps they should expand the number of editors here in Mexico to make sure all the fights are being covered

To add to the list of reasons why we don’t respect the WBC how’s about keeping Charlo as MW champ despite him not having fought for two years and even now .letting him schedule a comeback fight against a non middleweight in a non title fight.

how can the WBC refuse to work with them? There's no relationship between a website and a sanctioning body is there? Unless they use them for advertising? I am genuinely confused on this one. Anyone know what the relationship is?

It only takes a big name to fight at a new weight and it is legitimised. Look at Ray Leonard and Super-Mid

Wow what a terrible attitude mauricio has - his answers are basically "we can do what we want we're the WBC". And i guess as long as boxers are happy to pay their sanctioning fees he's right. Do sanctioning fees only apply for world title fights or are they for eliminators too ?

Do boxers themselves need to collectively take responsibility for the alphabet mire that we're in due to their haste to be acclaimed "world champions" when they aren't ? I'm not having a dig at Ant Crolla who had a fine career but he's just the first example that springs to mind of a guy who became a "world champion" despite probably not being in the top 10 in his division at the time :maybe: - how much money did he pay sanctioning bodies down the years for fights that weren't real "world title" fights ?

Fewer "world title" fights mean less revenue for sanctioning bodies and the end result of that hopefully is that 2 or 3 or all of them fold and only one genuine world title body remains

The WBC is a business like all the other alphabet bodies. There's hundreds of titles,no one can possibly name them all. I have never understood people being taken in by the 'world champion' tag. When I wrote about boxing I never put world champion in front of a boxers name. Maybe I'm wrong and please call me out on it? I always called them WBC heavyweight champ,IBF super middleweight champ, etc.

Let's be honest we all know who the best is in each division(pretty much anyway). I get promoters banging the 'world champion' drum but the sanctioning bodies just exist for financial gain. All the rankings are different and boxers get taken in and out of the rankings all the time depending who their promoter is. It's only my opinion

The WBC are a joke anyway. They've reinstalled Conor Benn in the top 5, for beating who?

It's time a promotion team where put together to put the best fights available on for no titles. Just ignore the titles and fight.

for beating the testers with mythical excuses!

WBC is so dodgy isn't it, Mauricio has continued his father's dubious approach to ethics and all round dodginess.

The WBC have ranked Ngannou in their top 10.

Their a farcical organisation that just make things up as they go. Zero integrity.
