Ben Davison - Should AJ keep him in the corner?

After the positive performance, considering the opposition on Saturday night, simply, should AJ continue as it is with Ben Davison in the corner?
And sometimes that's all what's needed.
Honestly did'nt see any great improvement in AJ , he was a bit more aggressive , but heh , has pointed out by someone else , he's beat him in he ameteurs and sparred him , he knew excatly what Wallin was like perfect opponent . Ben can't each AJ anything they may has well carry on together , next fight there coming off a win , opponent will not be great , confidence will be hgh and if AJ loses Ben will find himself carrying the blame and up the road
AJ, Fury, BJS and Taylor had him for a reason, his resume stacks up better than McGuigan.coneye wrote: ↑25 Dec 2023, 17:10Honestly did'nt see any great improvement in AJ , he was a bit more aggressive , but heh , has pointed out by someone else , he's beat him in he ameteurs and sparred him , he knew excatly what Wallin was like perfect opponent . And yet Ben was hired by master boxer Haney to devise strategies for world title fights.882440 wrote: ↑25 Dec 2023, 16:03And sometimes that's all what's needed.
Boxercise-Ben isn't able to teach Joshua new skills, or give him a masterful game plan. But giving him the confidence to just put it on an opponent may just be enough if it's limited opposition like Wallin in front of him.
But he'll need someone more tactically astute for Hrg or he loses widely again
I disagree. One of the reasons boxing is a minority sport now is because we just do not have experienced and knowledgeable trainers any more imo. Trainers nowadays are more like personal trainers,we have to be honest here. No disrespect to the Davidson's and Shane McGuigans of this world but they are no Manny Stewards or Eddie Futches. And there are just not enough quality fighters around to continually test each and improve each other.
All the Hall of Fame trainers were young once. If you can't see what a great job Ben's done for various fighters over the years, you're either biased or in need of new glasses.Bercli wrote: ↑26 Dec 2023, 13:39I disagree. I agree, you can't win with the being young thing really. Shane Mcguigan gets the same. Both excellent trainers.jwfg wrote: ↑26 Dec 2023, 14:17All the Hall of Fame trainers were young once. Yeah great observation. He always leaves on good terms and seems grateful for the opportunity. Never considers himself bigger than the fighter.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑26 Dec 2023, 14:28I agree, you can't win with the being young thing really. Shane Mcguigan gets the same. What Ben has in his favour too is that he has not fallen out with anyone too and is never bitter when anyone changes trainers. A good trait.
I agree with you , personal trainers is what they are especielly Davidson , OK Ok he's trained Fury , BJS , Taylor , now AJ and thats great on his resume , BUT whats he taught any of them , whats he changed in any of them for the better , Fury well he could'nt get it right against the ltd Wilder , , and would'nt listen to experienced trainers like Roach on how to aproach it , guys a personality like you say a personal trainer , my father in law would of described him well , he would off just said Bullshit baffles Brains ,, And i think importantly , who stayed with himBercli wrote: ↑26 Dec 2023, 13:39I disagree. definitely. And good to see, when BJS and Fury left in the past he gave thanks to then and talked up their next trainers. So refreshing to see.Steveh583 wrote: ↑26 Dec 2023, 16:22Yeah great observation. He always leaves on good terms and seems grateful for the opportunity.
