Who is Fighter of the Year for 2023?

Post by Perkin Warbeck »

Nominate some boxers for Fighter of the Year and I'll add a poll later.

I think it's clearly Naoya Inoue, but please post some suggestions as to who should be on the list.

Inoue.

He's probably the greatest fighter in the world.

About time the little guys got some credit and recognition.

Inoue
Crawford
Parker

In that order. I'd like to put Crawford higher, but one fight a year at 36 years old, this could be his last year.
Next year for Inoue is hotting up if they get the deal done with Nery, that should be a cracker.
Parker had a four fight year, culminating in his career best performance.

Inoue, Haney, Parker, tszyu.

Inoue, went to a new weight, stopped a unified champ, then stopped another unified champ, to claim 2nd undisputed.

Haney, Defended undisputed vs lomachenko and win a belt at a new weightclass vs progras

Parker, Super active, 120’d and wilder

Tszyu, 3 good fights, 3 good wins.

Realistically it’s one of the first 2, but I like what the 2nd to did.

Crawford might only have 1 win. But it was the biggest most convincing win in a major fight.
Crawford was fighter of the year for me

Inuoe by a wide margin. Probably Crawford next, maybe Haney. Then Navarrete, who won three title fights and his win over Valdez was particularly impressive. Bam Rodriguez, winning a flyweight belt and then beating up Edwards to unify also would be up there.
Why are people saying Parker? Are you talking about Joseph Parker, who outpointed a 38-year-old Wilder, who 75% of the people on here complained was a fraud as an alphabet belt-holder almost four years ago?
Short memories. Parker wouldn't be in my top 20

The question posted was fighter of the year. It wasn’t “who is in your top 20:heavyweights” or “who is in your top 20 P4P?”

:TU:

Particularly galling at this late stage in his career.

He's a remarkable talent, but a frustrating follow. 4 fights in 4 years. One of them against a washed up Kell Brook, another against a Euro-level Aveneysan.

It's not good enough, really.

Crawford is definitely a front runner for that award.

Honourable mention to Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr, who seems created a new higher award for himself,
