Maybe a glimmer of hope for us
Maybe a glimmer of hope for us
Ok guys, I have been reading this forum for a long time but I thought Id join up to let you guys know the following. Note that I would have put this in the Morales-Pacquiao thread already running but It might not have caught the attention of you guys in time.
Like you guys I have been furiously searching for somewhere which shows this fight tonight. I have looked down the listings for a chinese channel called CCTV-5 (sports channel) and they have boxing listed for 11 oclock starting on Sunday and finishing at 2. I decided to go to a world clock and the UK time for this is 3.am (4a.m CET). Going by the usual boxing times Im pretty sure thats the time the card will be shown in america going by the world clocks again (8 or 9 oclock). Looking at the schedule there is no asian fight card warranting a 3 hour timeslot named World Championship Boxing.
Now I might be way of the mark but it seems that this channel is indeed showing the card. I hope I am right for all of our sake and if it is not the card hope you dont crusify me on here!
You can stream this channel on the following link
http://www.cctv.com/sports/index.shtml' ... /cctv5.asx
Or even better use a program called "coolstreaming" which has this channel in it (it is a free program) that the more people streaming the better your actual stream is. You can download this below.

In the Phillipines channel 9 is showing the fight if you can manage to find a stream of that somwhere (i havent so far)
Hope this helps and it is not spam!

Good call Michael, best of luck to all - I don't have broadband so I'm f***ed.
My plan now is to log off for one week and tune in Friday Sky ( and cancel after, that's for sure ).
Broadband is the way forward it seems, and will hopefully put that overpaid meglomaniac bum Murdoch out of business as a result
adios

Huge thanks TBA/Michael
Round 1 - Pac 10-9
Round 2 - Morales looked to edge it 10-9 with slightly sharper punching (only saw last minute though, which was very choppy)
Round 3 - Pacman coming forward, Morales doing a good job of landing the sharper single shots. When Pac gets him in the corner or on the ropes watch the windmill go to work
. Closeish round but I give it to Morales 10-9
Round 4 - Morales doing everything right to outscore Pacman - moving to his left and countering with single shots, then backing Pac up and making him look very uncomfortable. Morales 10-9 (landed a nice right hook too, Pac did well to absorb)
Round 5 - Morales coming forward - looks to be gaining confidence, Pac looking slightly tired. Halfway through they meet in the middle and it turns into a slugfest. Hold on, Cortez stops it and calls the doc in - Pac cut over right eye. fornicate off! Better not stop it. Fight continues but Pac is rocked by right hand. I think he's going to get beat here guys. BTW, cut came from punch. Morales 10-9
Round 6 - Morales coming forward more often, definitely getting more and more confident. His punches seem more solid, and are draining Pac's energy. Morales 10-9
Round 7 - Great action round; total slugfest. Morales landed the more telling shots, though it was still close. He sealed it with a big right near the end. Pac seemed slightly, very slightly, rocked a couple of times by the punches. Morales 10-9
Round 8 - Missed a lot of this round, only caught a minute or so. Morales looked to get the better of the exchanges, landing the more solid, single shots. Morales 10-9
Round 9 - Great round for the Pacman, he kept coming forward and Morales retreated - but didn't land his effective single shots. Pac actually looked to stun Morales with one, then slightly rocked him a bit later. Pacman 10-9
Round 10 - Only caught last 90 seconds. Pacman looked to be continuing what was so effective in the ninth, when a huge right by Morales stunned him and made him to a Hector Camacho impression. Giving it to Morales 10-9, but might be even if I'd seen the first half.
Round 11 - Exchange, exchange, exchange is what this fight is all about, and like through most of it, Morales' shots seem to have more of an effect on Pacman than vice versa. Pac does get through with Morales on the ropes at one point and lands a good combo. Not enough though. Morales 10-9
Round 12 - Wow. Barnburner. Morales turns southpaw and actually has success with a huge counter-right as Pac charges inside. They go toe-to-toe, Ulimate Slugfest. Morales looks a little wobbly! WTF, is he going to go? He looks sapped of all energy. He seems to get a little bit of a second wind for the closing exchange. I'd probably give this one slightly to Morales, but maybe an even would be more appropriate. Round of the Year whatever the case. 10-10
Okay, all judges had it 115-113, by the looks of it I had it much wider than that. That's not to say it was a one-sided beatdown - it was a very close fight with Morales' superior punching technique offsetting Pac's fire. Take away the fire there ain't much there. He threw lots of fast combos that no doubt would have stung if they landed flush, and he did get through to Morales enough to make it healthy and competitive, but it was clear there was only gonna be one winner when it got to about halfway through.
Adding my scorecard up...
I had Morales winning 118-111. I don't know if that will be my final scorecard because there were a few rounds I missed part of. Because of this, 115-113 is not inconceivable. Good result. Great fight.

Top drawer boxing: no unnecessary clinching, plenty of power shots, constant exchange after exchange after exchange, classy skill by Morales. Will be top 5 in Fight of the Year rankings whatever happens in 2005, I would think.states wrote:Oh yes...... I spent about 5 days deciding on who to pick for the prediction league. And Erik has done me proud!!
Seriously, was it as good as anticipated?

Yeah, it looks pretty sweet. What connection you running for it, btw? You got any idea how it's working? I presume some sort of slightly delayed torrent service, but if anyone knows better, please tell me.
Quality was good, yeah? I wish I'd got home earlier and seen this thread: If I'd said pacman to my mates when I was down the pub they'd be thinking ancient arcade games, y'know? Philistines, the lot of 'em.......![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

For the pacman fight it was just a matter of installing the program then just clicking the CCTV5 link, wait for a few minutes and your default media player should start up, then wait a few minutes more and it will start playing. Its was a Chinese sports channel, commentary was in Chinese but quality and streaming were excellent.
