Anthony Joshua vs Corrie Sanders

Post by EdwardRevolver1993 »

I think, Sanders could have a dangerous style for Joshua.

But we also know Sanders' weaknesses.

How do you see this one going?

The big southpaw South African would have his moments by nailing AJ in the early rounds with his big left hand, but AJ would stick his left jabs with the longer reach to keep Sanders a bay, then nailing him with big combinations in the later rounds and stopping Sanders late with a big right hand in 10 rounds.

This is a very interesting match.

Had the question been asked before 2019, I'd have said Sanders stands no chance. But since then, it's become clear that AJ is not the unbeatable, "superman" of fighter that we originally saw in him.

For this reason, it's reasonable to speculate that, just maybe, Sanders could get lucky and blitz AJ into KO defeat, just like he did to Vlad in 2003.

Still, my gut instinct is that AJ would be too much for Corrie. AJ would probably control the action from center ring by using his quick, powerful left-jab. And his defense is sufficiently good that he could dodge or block Sanders's lightning-bolt combinations.

Most telling is the issue of Sanders's faulty stamina. After five rounds of fast, hard boxing, Corrie would be winded. That means he'd be very vulnerable to Joshua's long-range bombs, and most likely get KO'd.

Conclusion: I give AJ an 80% chance of winning against 20% for Sanders. Almost it ends in a knockout regardless of who wins.

It is a nice match :salut:

Sanders must have a legit shot - if you can melt a big dude like Wlad on the road and you're also a southpaw with fast, heavy hands etc, etc - but most stuff is also weighed mainly in favour of AJ.

If the fight was in South Africa I'd go very hard for Sanders - it was a huge-hidden advantage and not least because most big matches happened on the High Veld where the air is wafer thin - that's where Lennox got himself nailed by Rahman in 2001 because Hasim had been out there and paid his dues.

Sanders was from those parts and was also a very decent fast-starter.

But anyywhere else, I see Joshua winning, despite have being droppped a few times and generally having a bit of a mare.
