Re: Bug John Tate vs Mac Foster
You meant Big John Tate? Anyways, Tate would outbox Foster behind his long jabs, right hands and combinations on the outside to either take a decision or stopping him late.

Re: Bug John Tate vs Mac Foster
If we're talking about the peak John Tate - the form he showed in 1978-79 - then he'd dominate Foster. It ends in mid-to-late round TKO or UD.
Foster was pretty good, but as already pointed out, wasn't a truly first rate heavyweight. His upside was bazooka-like punching power and a rock solid chin. Mac's downside was being muscle bound, flat-footed, and too mechanical. I can't picture him landing a clean shot against Big John, who was much taller, had longer reach, and vastly greater athleticism.
Tate had enormous talent, but, sadly, was unable to fulfill his potential in boxing. Still, I can't picture him losing to Mac.

Re: Bug John Tate vs Mac Foster
No problem, but you should edit from Bug John Tate to "Big" John Tate please. Thanks.
