0:07 Darkie Smith not only gave Stribling encouragement between rounds but also some solid advice on how to handle Qawi. Now it's up to Stribling to implement it. 0:0
0:07 Qawi's corner men does a nice job on Qawi's cut on the right eyelid. You wouldn't even know that Qawi had suffered a cut by looking at him now. 0:0
0:07 The swelling on the face of Qawi is noticeable, even at a distance. Although his corner men were applying cold compresses and trying to work the swelling away from his eyes, Qawi still has distension. 0:0
0:08 The fighters are tangled up inside. Qawi has a hand free and lands a little uppercut. 2:0

01:24 Stribling's finds a home on Qawi's jaw. 2:6
01:24 That last shot has reopened a cut on Dwight Qawi because the blood is flowing again. 2:6
01:24 Qawi's got blood flowing noticeably again as the cut outside his left eye has reopened here in Round 6. 2:6
01:24 * Qawi seems to be having some difficulty seeing. It's not that he's bleeding all that badly but the location of the cut - over the eye - makes it a bit more serious. And talk about timing, the referee has stepped in and momentarily stopped the fight. He's looking at the cut above Qawi's eye and is now leading him toward the ringside physician. 2:6
01:24 * The doctor is peering at the wound and he's shrugged his shoulders and he's shaking his head - is that a good thing or bad? Well, it's good from Qawi's perspective and the cheer that arises from the crowd tells us all we need to know: there's going to be more fisticuffs in just a moment. Obviously, the damage isn't that bad and Qawi and Stribling await the signal from the referee to commence firing. The fight resumes here in Round 6. 2:6

02:02 Stribling pins Qawi's arms against his body stopping him from throwing any punches. 2:10
02:14 Nelson steps in and breaks it up. 2:10
02:19 Qawi is trying to find his timing. Punches that were finding the mark before are missing now. 2:10
02:26 Stribling rips a hook to the head. 2:12
02:26 That punch has reopened a cut on Qawi as once again you can see blood on the face of Qawi. 2:12
02:26 The gash on Qawi's right eyelid has been reopened and it's bleeding as heavily now as it was originally. 2:12
02:26 * Blood is trickling from the cut over Qawi's eye; it has to be impairing his vision somewhat and it's definitely bothering him if the amount of blinking he's doing is any indication. And it looks like . . . yes . . . Referee Nelson is notifying the timekeeper to stop the clock. He wants the doctor at ringside to take a look at Qawi's facial wound. 2:12
02:31 * It looks like the ringside physician is asking Nelson to stop the fight so he can examine Qawi's cut. The doctor is really taking a close look at it and Qawi can not like the expression on his face.* No! Nelson waves it off. The fight is over! The doctor is not going to let it continue. The winner by TKO is Stribling! 2:12

Re: Event#16 Spinks vs Hopkins.....Loughran vs Dillon.....Quawi vs Stribling.....IBO/WBO/Lineal champ Langford vs Patte

Post by armageto »

This draw is a stylistic nightmare for Loughran, every fight will be tough. This one had to be very close going to the cards, but the read seemed like a tough, ugly fight to score. Right up Loughran's alley.

Stribling with the win. I think our first unmanaged fighter to get a victory in the MDT so far this season?

Spinks was just too much for Hopkins, who's impressive two fight KO streak comes to a close.

Langford continues making his great run, Shuffleshits approves.... :TU:

Another couple of cut eye's prematurely ending fights. Weird, not many of these incidents during the first half of the season and now its like at least one on every card. Strange.

Loughran - Dillon was a close, close fight but Tommy did just enough.

Langford now really finding his feet.
