Wilder ... Shot ?
How can the Deontay Wilder chin go through 12 rounds of Zhang's punches ?
Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
He never was any better than he is now. His career is the easiest to pick apart out of any so called top heavy weight. Was always losing until he landed a big shot and has lost every time he faced someone who could either avoid the big shot or get back up from it.
He clearly has insane KO power but he's never dropped anyone who hasn't been dropped or stopped by someone else. He didn't even drop Duhaupus who got KO'd by Povetkin a year later. Took 13 rounds to drop Stiverne too...
His competition has increased, that is all.
That said, Zhang is a punchable 40 year old who has had stamina issues in the past. If Wilder can survive the early onslaught, he has a chance of KO'ing Zhang late because he carries his power into the late rounds.

Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
Wilder rarely wins rounds. Most likely zhang gets him, but zhang is slow and can be hit - hes not going to move like parker
Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
I'm imagining a slow paced fight.
Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
Wilder is good at moving around the ring, to be fair to him. A lot of his opponents get tired chasing him, for example, Luis Ortiz.
Haven’t decided who I think has this. But currently I I’m 60:40 in Zhang’s favour despite my above comments.

Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
has Zhang ever been knocked down in his professional career? I reckon this fight will be his first if not. I'm going to go with a Wilder win because Zhang is fairly slow and easy to hit. Parker had him wobbling a bit I'm sure of it but didn't want to fully commit to do it properly - and probably doesn't have the punch power either. Wilder does.

Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
Just watched the Parker fight this morning, as it happens.
Wilder did not look good. If that was the only fight you'd seen of his, you'd have no idea that he's a puncher.
Poor plan, poor shot selection, poor footwork, poor work rate, good chin.
Wilder is a highlight reel fighter, a one-trick pony.
It was always an effective trick, and it very nearly worked (twice) against Fury.
He never looked anywhere near pulling it off against Parker.
That being said, Zhang is slow and has stamina issues.
Wilder has a decent chin and a lot of heart.
I'll favour Zhang in this, but wouldn't be totally surprised if Wilder manages it.
Is Wilder shot? He's not as effective at delivering his one trick as he used to be.... But Parker could well have done that to him 6 years ago.

I think he might well be.
I think the Fury fights, along with inactivity and age have taken it out of him.
He just didn't look up to it against Parker, although, to be fair, a lot of it was due to Parker's excellent tactics.

Now that Deontay Wilder is a sinking ship (Titanic) HIS alphabet boy community have jumped ship and is now supporting Devin Haney in New York (They all getting comps)
I see some of them who own media platforms have not reported him signing with Hearn - because those fools are on the pbc payroll.
Recent interview Wilder said people have taken advantage of him and he's now become a selfish person.

Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
id say he's past his prime ( whenever that was ), but its inconsequential. parker would have dominated wilder at any point of his career, and zhang knocks out any version of wilder he could have gotten in the ring with. wilder is just a poor boxer, always has been, enormously overrated, without a single noteworthy win on his entire record, and looked terrible in most of the better fights that he has won.
Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
Zhang is the older fighter of the two, so even if Wilder ain't what he was. Zhang ain't exactly a spring chicken.

Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
There is a formula to beat Zhang - stay out of range, move and box for the first half and then pick him off - and that must give Wilder a hope.
Anyway, this is it, heavyweight boxing's two biggest hitters facing off.
The Saudis once again giving us the fights we want and the fighters the purses they enjoy, what's not to like?
The only note of discord is that why does this have to happen on the same night as Beterbiev v Bivol?
Oh ok, go on, spoil us!

One of the worst Heavyweight Champions, in recent times.

INSSRT HERE: “The last thing you lose is your power!”
Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
Wilder for the win for me, Everybody is forgetting that he beat Fatso Fury in their 1st fight, and had Fury in trouble in the 2nd and 3rd fights, ZHANG aint FURY in terms of movement, Slow and standing in front of WILDER is a recipe for disaster, Remember what happened to Domenic Breazeale??Wilder can still punch and has a pretty decent chin, I see WILDER getting ZHANG out of ther inside 6 rounds.

Is this a second account for trolling? Yes he is shot. I like Zhang but I really don't think that much of him. He has great power but tends to lose energy after two or three rounds. Interesting fight none the less!

Not even a clever troll
Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
Excellent matchmaking here, imo. Both long in the tooth. Both can bang. Both lost to Parker. Both need this W.
I have to lean toward Zhang by early stoppage (1-5), but if it goes beyond 5 Wilder will likely take it. Of course, Wilder could catch the melon headed plodder early and end it.
We could be in for a Foreman v Lyle kind of war.

Wilder strangely changed his style last fight. Feet closer to each other. Previously always a wide footed banger. Really needs a real trainer. Big mistake leaving Breland. Not sure about this fight. Zhang threw so little last fight. Should be fun to watch.

Agreed.
Wilder has been totally lost since firing the peerless Mark Breland after the 2nd Fury fight.
That will always remain the low point of a carefully planned career. That, along with turning down the Joshua fight, although I blame his blinded by greed handlers for that.
Wilder's hints of retirement don't exactly inspire much confidence either.
It's pretty obvious that at his age Zhang is only good for a few rounds but if he beats Wilder, that's it, time for Deontay to quit.
The boxing ring is no place for those whose heart isn't in it.
Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
I do not think he cares anymore and the fight with Parker, and the interview after it, really showed that.
He can still get a pay day or two and that’s what this will be, I think

Re: Wilder ... Shot ?
Absolutely shot. No desire to be challenging anymore. The fact he waited 14 months to get back in the ring after ending Helenius, says it all.
Of course he will turn up for a few more pay days, but don't see him challenging anymore. With no heart and no legs, I see it being a messy night for Wilder against Zhang.
The division is better with him in it, only whilst motivated.
