once wilder stepped up to consistently fight top opposition the losses piled in. he never did much to convince me he would have ever beat the guys he's now losing to (but omg he beat the legendary luis ortiz!!! every wilder fans most loved fighter aside from wilder). maybe, but hardly clear cut. the limitations they exploited would still be there

and for all wilder's title defenses, parker has the better wins : ruiz, zhang, wilder himself, chisora x2, takam. even f@cking hughie fury is better than crap like gerald washington, szpilka, eric molina, worn out arreola, etc. punchers are always the ones most flattered by facing overmatched opponents.

parker went the distance with an unbeaten aj no problem, and joe at his best (arguably now) has the craft and toughness needed to beat any wilder. fury was still a boarderline mess when he took the first wilder fight. that was presumably 'prime' wilder, before taking any punishment from the gypsy king, and we saw still how massively limited he was. once fury got back into things more wilder couldnt last either time

it's an interesting fight, im not saying wilder wasnt better in the past, but i think he went from underrated to massively overrated over the years and could easily lose to guys like parker even at his best

The current Parker would win any Wilder. The KO chance is still possible for Wilder.

Wilder has a puncher's chance against anybody throughout Heavyweight history you could match him against just about except for maybe the steel chinned guys of Heavyweight Lore.

That being said, I think Parker would outbox him 90% of the time at any stage of their careers.

"Wilder went from underrated to massively overrated over the years" - THIS!

Back in the days, when The Ring was inviting some of the fans from their forum to take part in a prediction roundtable for big fights along with well-known experts- I was honored to take part in the Wilder-Stiverne fight picks. I f***ed up big time and picked Stiverne to stop Wilder. I just wasn't believing in Wilder's chin.

Yes, he proved me that he was better than I thought of him. But gosh(!) - he became overrated since then.

I was upset at how public treated Parker's success, when he won a near shout-out over Wilder last December. Suddenly, Wilder "wasn't the same as he was" and etc., and etc.

Wilder was losing every round in the 2nd Luis Ortiz fight before he managed to unleash the bomb. He was losing the first half of the Szpilka bout. And by the way, a usually weak-chinned Szpilka was taking some of Wilder's right hands well (until that last one).

Parker had a habit of being lethargic in some fights. But he always had a good chin and a fine defense. He was also always a pretty sound boxer. I think, he could've outpointed prime Wilder, too. I could see him being a nasty style for any Wilder.

If I recall, there were talks of Wilder and Parker fighting in a WBC/WBO unification bout circa 2017. Parker even attended Wilder's bout in Alabama (was it a Gerald Washington bout?) and they posed for a picture backstage. For some reason, their fight didn't come to fruition back then. I think Wilder would've been bookie's favourite at the time. But Parker could still do a number on him.
