In jail!

Post by ABA Boxing »

Do you think out of all the sports in the World Boxing has more criminals than any other Sport?

How many great Boxers have been to jail, loads of them!

Every week on here there is a post about some boxer who kills his wife,(wifes lover) or someone else, they seem to be always brutal killings stabbed 50 times shot 6 times ect.

You read about Footballers they get drunk, rape a few girls, get done for speeding and the odd other sports get piced up on drug taking.

But Boxing we have mass murder! :o Even the boxer's ring entrance is described with some kind of pride if he has served time in prison.

The whole image of boxing is of gangsters and people you cant trust.

Its why the local Judo clubs are full to the rafters with young kids, with there mums happly taking them to the club, while the local boxing club is strugling to stay open for lack of funds.

Mothers will let there kids learn punches and kicks that could be fatal in some playground, yet wont let there kids anywhere near the Boxing Gym.

Nah I reckon it's more a case of whenever a boxer lands in jail it makes more news than if he wasn't a fighter "cliche cliche"

The probable reason mothers let their kids do martial arts is because its seen as self defence, rather than how they view boxing being more offence.

How many of the top boxers have served time, not many really, and just because somebody boxed should not be held against boxing the same as if they played pool in their leisure time.

It seems that is just the only kind of attention that boxing recieves in the mainstream press, if it isn't bad, then you don't hear about. For instance, mainstream media has a frenzy when Tyson does something wrong and it is all over newspapers everywhere by writers that wouldn't know the meaning of a jab if they were hit with one. But when Tyson does something good like donating $5000 for a new headstone for Kid Gavalin's grave recently, no one but hardcore boxing fans ever really hear about it...it's a fornicating shame the way the media is today!
