Carmen Basilio

According to a 1973 interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Basilio's first name was Carman but as a child his incorrectly would spell it as Carmen and it was never corrected. He made no mention of his actual name being Carmine.

The 1930 census, 1940 census, NY marriage records, and Social Security Death index all list him as "Carmen"...no "Carman", and no "Carmine" either.
