Liam Davies vs Shabaz Masoud rescheduled for November 2nd in Birmingham

An intriguing clash of undefeated super bantamweights is back on the schedule after Queensberry Promotions announced a November 2nd Birmingham show headlined by Liam Davies vs Shabaz Masoud. The pair were initially set to meet in July before Davies (16-0, 8 KOs) withdrew due to illness, leaving Masoud (13-0, 4 KOs) to pitch an eight-round shutout over journeyman Marvin Solano.

The IBO title will be ON THE LINE.

Davies enters with the stronger body of work between the 28-year-olds, boasting wins over domestic threats like Ionut Baluta and Jason Cunningham alongside a two-round thrashing of upset merchant Erik Robles Ayala. Masoud’s best victories came over the aging Yoan Boyeaux and Colombian vet Jose Sanmartin, the latter a competitive split decision.

Davies is no. 5 in both the IBF and WBC rankings, with the former being of particular interest. Sam Goodman sits at the top ahead of his planned date with Naoya Inoue, followed by an empty slot, the recently deposed Marlon Tapales, and Murodjon Akhmadaliev. If Inoue moves up to 126 after facing Goodman and (potentially) Junto Nakatani, a win here would put Davies in prime position to fight for the vacant belt.

Great fight. I see Bostan v Davis has been agreed, too. I love that fight. Both are great additions to the UK schedule.

Cameron defends her title against Berghult, and Davies fights Masoud

WBC Interim super lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron (19-1) will defend her title against Sweden's Patricia Berghult (17-1) November 2 in Birmingham on a Queensberry Promotion.

Topping the bill are Liam Davies (16-0) and Shabaz Masoud (13-0) in an IBO title fight at super bantamweight.

Berghult previously held the WBC super welterweight title but lost to Natasha Jonas in September of 2022 and has only fought twice since then. She is managed by Kamran Kabinejad and trained by her father Joakim. Patricia returned September 7 after 18 months out and beat Vaida Masiokaite (10-25-5).

Cameron went 1-1 with Katie Taylor last year and then beat Elhem Mekhaled and won the WBC interim title.

No doubt about it; Patricia is up against it but is also in a position where there is nothing to lose and everything to win.
