If Joshua isnt going to have a rematch v DDD (and in my opinion it would be wrong) ......... whose next for AJ?

Presuming the rematch isnt going to happen, I guess its because AJ will fear he could get ironed out again, then lets presume AJ would have a fight against a 'contender' to see if he still has what it takes. But who could this be:

AJ v Big baby Miller - I quite like this one. Miller isnt a destructive puncher like DDD but he does represent a challenge for AJ after their last scheduled fight fell through. I think MIller would fancy himself in this. Should AJ lose then he is done.

AJ v Joe Joyce - To me Joyce is a level below Miller but its a chance for AJ to Look good. Joyce is slow and ponderous but should AJ not put him away within 6 then suddenly Joyce is in the game, Should AJ lose then he is done.

AJ v Joseph Parker (although i think Parker will be next up for DDD). Parker gives AJ a chance to go over some old ground. JP isnt a puncher but has some momentum. It could be a long hard fight for both men. Sould AJ lose then he is done.

Anthony Joshua must must avoid bog bangers if he is to take a step back and rebuild. That means no Zhang for sure.

Zhang vs anyone at the moment gets bums on seats. He's also a very credible opponent who you can argue everyone is avoiding. I'd also imagine beating him would put AJ back very close to a mandatory spot. If he wants to retire as a 3 time champ I think getting in one of the mando spots for one of the belts will do him good as they will no doubt fragment after Usyk v Fury.

I'm not sure AJ will take a rematch, seems like there's too much at stake for him. He might cherry pick a couple of easy opponents first... Dubois and Fury will likely still be options in 2025 anyway.

I think a rematch for Joshua is pretty winnable.
He can do way better than that performance. He's always been about the belts and this is the only one going.
I don't want to see a Parker rematch because Parker has earned a shot at a belt, and IMO Parker vs Dubois is intriguing.
So if the rematch doesn't pan out a confidence booster against Miller might be alright.

I am putting Joshua`s drubbing by Dubois down to over confidence and being tagged early. I just cant believe he has gone that bad so quickly .. hands down and poor distance was incredible.

I don’t think so. Whyte is flushed, being ironed out spectacularly by both Fury and Joshua plus Povetkin, and would be coming off a drug ban. Joshua’s lost 3 of his last 7 and also got flattened by Mr Blobby. His shine has gone. Casuals will have lost interest. They are very fickle and ultimately the casual is the one that makes big fights happen. Not the hardcore.

The Joshua comeback narrative doesn’t work now. Surely the only Joshua fights that sell and can get him the cash he expects are big names - Zhang, Kabayel not known enough but Turki can fund it, Wilder would be the battle of the flushed punchers but can sell, similarly maybe Joyce-Joshua…..perhaps winner of Wardley - Clarke?….. Andy Ruiz decider? Bakhodir Jalolov would definitely sell….
