Anthony Yarde * updates *
Anthony Yarde announces October 19 return to the ring
Anthony Yarde will resume his career on October 19 at London’s Copper Box Arena, on a promotion overseen by Boxxer.
The light heavyweight, 33, has remained inactive since stopping Marko Nikolic in three rounds in February.
He had been expected to next fight Joshua Buatsi but became involved in a dispute with Queensberry Promotions, who had guided him from the start of his career. Queensberry’s allegedly also threatened him with legal action, but Yarde’s appearance on a Boxxer promotion will revive hopes for a potential fight with Buatsi, also of Boxxer, should he win on the undercard of Adam Azim-Ohara Davies.
“On October 19, I’m back in my home city and I can’t wait,” he said. An opponent is still to be announced. “Everything about it – the occasion; the journey; the arena; the whole event – I’m very excited. The Copper Box Arena is a special venue for me. It’s near where I grew up and I’ve had some great nights there. I’ve been training hard and waiting to get back in the ring to deliver another explosive knockout performance.”
“We are excited to introduce the electrifying talent of Anthony Yarde to our High Voltage fight night on Saturday, October 19,” said Boxxer’s Ben Shalom. “It’s a huge addition to an already stacked fight card. Fans can look forward to an incredible atmosphere and an action-packed night of boxing at the Copper Box Arena in London.”
Yarde’s divisional rival Dan Azeez fights Lewis Edmondson on the same undercard that also features Michael McKinson-Tulani Mbenge at welterweight, Jeamie TKV-Franklin Ignatius at heavyweight and Francesca Hennessy’s next bantamweight contest.
Buatsi defeated Willy Hutchinson via split decision at Wembley Stadium on September 21 to remain on course to fight the winner of Artur Beterbiev-Dmitry Bivol for the undisputed title on October 12.

I did think this card looked particularly crap. I'm sure Yarde vs another patsy will shore things up.

Let's see if he fights the same cans from eastern Europe..jameswilson wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 09:16 I did think this card looked particularly crap. I'm sure Yarde vs another patsy will shore things up.
Surely Boxxer don't have the same matchmakers as Frank.
It's funny, Yarde (Frank) and Buatsi (Hearn) were always on collision course all these years..
Now it's like it will happen, with neither involved.

Be nice if Yarde fought someone a bit closer to his level.
As opposed fighting cans when he’s not fighting the absolute best in the world

Another can to crush, then a push into a World title, me thinks.

I was thinking this - has his contractual position been resolved? I can't imagine FW getting a contractual position wrong these days.

Hopefully this legal situation has been resolved.
I wouldn't like to see a Polish Super Middleweight miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime.

Maybe he’s too busy and earning so much money now with all the Riyadh fights he isn’t as bothered as he would’ve been and just let him go?SeanBrennan wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 15:40that's what I heard too.Controversial wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 15:37Last I heard from FW in a interview not that long ago was he was in contract and that was the end of the matterSeanBrennan wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 15:12

Thsts what i thought too. He probably cant be arsed, already got him two very undeserving shots. With buatsi looking in line for beterbiev/bivol winner, there aint much left for him really.Controversial wrote: ↑05 Oct 2024, 03:39Maybe he’s too busy and earning so much money now with all the Riyadh fights he isn’t as bothered as he would’ve been and just let him go?SeanBrennan wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 15:40that's what I heard too.Controversial wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 15:37

You kind of think if that is the case it could come back and bite Yarde on the behind, presumably he wants the big fights still so might have to deal with him again in the futureBigdogsnose wrote: ↑05 Oct 2024, 04:17Thsts what i thought too.
