Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
Where does Usyk rank in all time heavyweight rankings?
Re: Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
Top 5-10 range.
Re: Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
Undeniably top 10. Anything else is preference because it's hypothetical. Based on skill, arguably top 3, based on resume he's probably fringe top 5 but he's cleared out the division but the division isn't the best ever.
Re: Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
He's only won everything there is to win in boxing, without ever losing.
Top 5-10.
Top 5-10.

It's all business and randomness. Usyk has a relatively weak chin. He was one good referee decision away to lose the title to Dubois in a great upset + struggles heavily against big punchers that's why we'll never see him fight a guy like wilder.
I'm not trying to be anti Usyk but boxing isn't a sport it's a business exactly like wrestling except more fights are shoot so judging fighters of the resume is stupid and all time rankings conversation are even stupider.
Re: Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
He proved himself to be an ATG, but it's still interesting to see him vs a winner of Kabayel-Zhang or Parker, if he wins Dub.

He arguably didn't lose a round vs Dubois, who is a big puncher and a better figher than Wilder, who has close to zero skills.LeRoiDuRing wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 19:54It's all business and randomness. Until Usyk wins a life and death battle with the cw goat jirov, you have to give toney the nod

He’s a top 10 all time heavyweight for me.
For me, he’s really close to Holyfield.
Wouldn’t mind an in depth discussion about who should be ranked higher.

Do you honestly rate Holyfield over Usyk? Imo Usyk beats Holy comfortably. And if we look by record he is above Evander there too.

Re: Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
The argument for ranking Usyk over Holyfield was that he didn't lose in his prime like Evander did, although Evander's opponent resume is far stronger than Usyk's. I do think 1992 Bowe is a tougher matchup for Usyk than Fury.
Prime Evander vs Usyk is really an amazing matchup. Two excellent counter-punchers in great condition with wills of iron. Evander would have the edge in speed/power but Usyk the edge in defense/technical skills.

i think if both are on their game holy woulda been able to outfight usyk enough for a decision. holy such a physical beast with his speed, power, and output, with skills to complement it too. usyk would have his cute moments but wouldn't be able to escape holy's tsunami enough to edge it

And steroids. I guess there's the comparison of skill but also resume.
Does Usyk have a better Cruiserweight or Heavyweight resume than Holyfield? I think he has a better Cruiserweight one than him. Heavyweight is more up for debate

yes evan fields was likely loaded to the gills, but tbh i suspect most elite fighters are. there are ways to beat tests when dirty. shane mosley admitted using peds but never failed a test.

That and the obvious they both cleaned up CW before going on to success at Heavy.
Bowe and Fury are both themselves very comparable.
I think beating AJ twice is better than beating the 40 something versions of Foreman and Holmes and a super unmotivated Buster Douglas.
Re: Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
I wonder, how everyone sees Bowe of the first Holyfield bout against Usyk.
Re: Usyk is ATG (is there any doubt anymore?)
Bowe was always very easy to hit- far easier than Fury. He had more power than Fury, He could have been real trouble on the inside for Usyk, but Fury is definitely better defensively.
I guess I can see Bowe winning the first of a three fight trilogy against Usyk. I think, unlike with Holy, he loses the next two.
Usyk would never fight Bowe the way Holy did in the third fight.
