Oleksandr Usyk is the best heavyweight since......
Agreed!
It's all subjective, C, but I definitely think Tyson F is a bit underrated. I think him and Lennox would have been a very close match with Tyson as slight favourite for me.Fray Bentos wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 11:05Agreed!
Lennox Lewis wouldn't have had to have a rematch with Tyson Fury nor would anyone would have demanded one.
Ways to beat Lewis, take him out with one shot or get past the jab, and Lewis wasn't a busy fighter, he liked to offset with the jab and fight at his own pace.Fray Bentos wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 11:05Agreed!

Really? Not about Fury standing a chance because I rate Fury but starting as favourite against Lewis? How? He might have done I don't know but I can't see how he would?Jimmy2025 wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 11:17It's all subjective, C, but I definitely think Tyson F is a bit underrated. Lewis would fall asleep, get lazy mid-fight, get careless which is all true but it was Lewis just having a jab and nothing else, he had proper KO power as well as well as setting up awkward angles mid round and his overall boxing skill which is how he managed to get his shots off against Holyfield - and I might be in a minority here but I think Holyfield would have been all wrong for Uysk and he would have beaten him and Tua would have seriously tested his chin - would Tua have beaten him? Don't know - did he have a chance? Damn right.Coco wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 11:27Ways to beat Lewis, take him out with one shot or get past the jab, and Lewis wasn't a busy fighter, he liked to offset with the jab and fight at his own pace.Fray Bentos wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 11:05Agreed!

In the first fight, at long range, Fury was good, but was forced to work at an uncomfortable pace, couldn't sustain in and Uysk got to him.
Uysk would struggle with Lewis's jab but eventually get past it and get to him.
I always thought that the size differential with modern day giants would have been too much against the old greats.
Uysk has shown the way
Exactly.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 11:38 I don't see Usyk getting past Lewis's jab with any sort of regularity, think Lennox would be able to keep him at bay, plus he also carries the firepower to potentially stop Usyk which Fury lacked. Lewis has a lot of tools at his disposal which Fury doesn't - no way does Usyk controls centre ring against him, and Usyk is distinctly worse when on the back foot.
Prime Fury circa Chisora 2 and Wlad time was awesome, big, fit, fast, elusive, confident and smart. Lewis never fought anybody with all those qualities.Fray Bentos wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 12:12Really? Hard to tell, Vitali never beat anyone even as good as Dubois arguably.Wake up call wrote: ↑24 Dec 2024, 18:13 It’s easier to say he’s the best since Lewis and on achievements that is probably true.
However, an injury-free Vitaliti Klitschko would have bested any of the current crop of heavyweights.
