I just noticed that a fight of Peter Jackson's does not seem to be listed.
According to the Boxing Register International Boxing Hall of Fame Official Record Book, he had a fight against someone named Billy Warren.
They list it as happening on December 2, 1899, in Melbourne. It is listed a 25-round draw.
I tried finding Billy Warren in the Boxrec Data Base. There several fighters listed by that name, but none seem to have fought at that time.
Anyway, this fight seems like it did actually happen. Can this be looked into?
Thanks.

Re: Peter Jackson's Last Fight
The only source are claims made by Cyclone Billy Warren later in life, who also claimed to have fought Jack Johnson. At the end of 1899 Jackson was very ill and not even in Australia.

Re: Peter Jackson's Last Fight
Interesting. Never heard of Cyclone Billy Warren. Was he actually a fighter? Dont see his name in the database.
Noticed that Jackson's record varies widely with different sources.
Boxrec has him at 42-5-3
Boxing Register has him at 45-4-5. 85 total bouts with 31 No-Decisions
Encyclopedia of Boxing by Gilbert Odd has him at 30-3-6. Only 41 bouts. With Just 1 No-Decision and 1 No-Contest.
He had a couple of 4 round fights that Boxrec counts as losses that it looks like the Encyclopedia of Boxing was not counting.
Boxing Register may only be counting 1 of the 2.

You really can't trust sources such as the ones you mention. They didn't do any research and offer such just copies of copies of info from record books filled with mistakes.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑03 Jan 2025, 14:11 Noticed that Jackson's record varies widely with different sources.

There seem to be some extra fights early in his career mentioned here?

Re: Peter Jackson's Last Fight
It mentions he won a rematch with Jack Hayes but doesn't give a date for it
