What are your predictions for the February 22nd Saudi card?

Post by Perkin Warbeck »

Beterbiev vs Bivol - perhaps Bivol by close UD or Beterbiev by late KO/TKO

Dubois vs Parker - Dubois by later round stoppage - but Parker is an excellent boxer, who might win a decision

Adames vs Sheeraz - Sheeraz by later round stoppage, but I'm not sure

Ortiz Jr vs Madrimov - Madrimov by later round stoppage, but I'm not sure

Stevenson vs Schofeld - Stevenson by wide UD, in the only non-competitive fight

Buatsi vs Smith - Buatsi by decision, but it will be competitive

Zhang vs Kabayel - Kabayel by stoppage in a later round, but Zhang can KO anybody early

This is one of the best boxing cards I've ever seen, if not THE best. It's amazing to see six competitive, high-level matchups on one boxing card.

I've never rooted for beterbiev but I am here. I think Bivol decision.

ddd by decision too. I'm rooting for Parker but he is unreliable in the crunch.

It's an OK card. It needs more heavyweights.

I'm on my own in finding the first bivol running away fight not hugely entertaining.

I think Beterbiev gets the stoppage this time. I think he deserved the decision last time and I think Bivol's punch resistance isn't going to be what it was the first fight (which he barely survived at points)

Parker by decision. I think quite a few folks are over-rating Dubois at the moment, but it's close to a 50/50 fight.

Adames by decision, but could go either way.

Madrimov by decision

Stevenson by decision

Buatsi by decision

Zhang by TKO but if Kayabel truly has an iron jaw he could wear Zhang out and stop him, but Kayabel's defense is just so leaky and Zhang hits so hard.

Could he stop him late? Body shots or generally an exhausted Zhang unable to keep his hands up anymore and getting TKO'd? I would say that's not completely beyond the realm of possibility.

I couldn't of said this better myself. You seem to feel close to what I see. I'm not sure on that Zhang vs Kabayel. Kabayel is one of my favorite boxers. Zhang has to knock him out within 6 or so...Kabayel will dominate the fight when Zhang runs out of gas. It's a super risky step up. Very well said. I think Kabayel wins but I hope Zhang wins.

As a side note I thought Bivol won the fight before they read the scorecards. Obviously it was like the toughest match ever to score. So I'm not disputing the scorecard. But I actually thought Bivol won, I was surprised. Who did you think won before the scorecards were read?

I am never picking against Kabayel again after I thought both Mahkmudov and Sanchez were going to beat him easily.
Can't see him stopping Zhang however. I just don't think Zhang is built like the kind of guy who's going to get stopped unless he gets injured or something.
Kabayel wide UD in a sleeping pill of an affair.
Bivol in some kind of split or majority decision
Dubois stops Parker late in a fight Parker's winning
Adames over Sheeraz, competitive
Ortiz Jr vs Madrimov fucked if I know but very interesting toss up for me
Stevenson vs Schofeld who cares
Buatsi vs Smith probably Buatsi at this point

I completely agree. It's nice, if a little unusual, to find someone who sees boxing matters so closely eye to eye. Similar insights? Or similar delusions?

Time will tell.

I also thought Bivol had clearly won, and I suspect so did Beterbiev and his corner.

I think it's also fairly well accepted that Zhang is a different fighter in the first 6. Most fighters slow as the fight develops but Zhang appears to come to an almost complete standstill.

That 2nd half against Hrgovic was pathetic. If he had done anything he'd definitely have got the decision he deserved that night.

If Zhang hasn't inflicted collateral damage on Kabayel before rd 7, and it's a fast paced fight, he's going to lose.

Bivol is just not good enough for Beterbiev. And I do love Bivol.

And Madrimov was robbed against Crawford, he clearly won that fight. I believe he'll win this one too but Ortiz happens to fit into the picture...

I mean, he was only a few punches short for many rounds which would've turned the scores upside down. I don't think Beterbiev is levels above Bivol. They are competitive but Beterbiev definitely put it all together more last time out.

I honestly believe Beterbiev is p4p number 2 (Loma being number 1). Bivol is not far, but just not good enough...
