A close call. I see it as a 115-113 or 116-112 score for any of them.
Re: Mike Tyson vs Ray Mercer (1995)
Comeback Tyson would take a decision after outpunching Mercer on the outside and inside with body shots, hooks, right hands and uppercuts.

Tyson Unanimous Decision in a great fight.

One of the best fights in the heavyweight division that i have watched was Mercer vs Witherspoon, either of these blokes on their day are a live chance to beat Mike Tyson, i would favor Tyson in both fights but it would be 51 - 49 , and i would not be a bit suprised if one or both of Mercer or Witherspoon could/would beat Tyson.

Mercer is colossally overrated on Boxrec. Tyson would put him in his shell en-route to a wide decision and I wouldn't be surprised if Ray hit the deck at least one.

After 1995, the great Mike Tyson was a ring circus. Ray Mercer could beat him at that time of Iron Mike's career.
But, before 1991, it would be all Tyson.

I'd like to think I rate him appropriately, it helps that I have a better idea of what he could and couldn't do considering I recently went through a great deal of his fights. The Ups and the Downs. I believe he'd hang tough with Tyson, and give him a good fight similar to the way he did Holyfield, but Tyson would come out the clear winner. Be it 1995, 1996, 1997, 1991, or any other time they could've fought.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025, 08:15 Mercer is colossally overrated on Boxrec. In 1995 it might've been toughest just because Mike was fresh out of Prison, and still hadn't gotten fully back into the groove of fighting at the highest level.
