Chris Thomas fought at middleweight. Good idea fighting 300 lbs, 2meter tall undefeated guy with amateur background. What a circus

Alex Bray-Lesther Espino set for undercard of July 18 show on DAZN
Alex Bray’s opponent for this Friday in Orlando, Florida, is no longer the dreaded TBA. Instead, the unbeaten junior middleweight prospect will face Lesther Espino, according to a press release from Boxlab Promotions.
Bray-Espino is scheduled for eight rounds at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Florida. The main event features heavyweight prospect Gurgen Hovhannisyan, 8-0 (7 KOs), who will take on Chris Thomas, 15-1-2 (10 KOs).
Bray, 9-0 (7 KOs), is a 19-year-old from about 70 minutes east of Orlando in Melbourne, Florida. The 6-foot-3 prospect is coming off an eight-round majority decision in March over the 13-7-2 Victoriano Antonio Santillan.
Although the press release says Espino is 13-2-1 (5 KOs), BoxRec has the 34-year-old from Nicaragua at 9-6 (7 KOs). Espino was knocked out in five rounds in May 2024 by then-undefeated welterweight prospect Avious Griffin. Espino bounced back in December with a third-round TKO of the 11-6-1 Israel Lopez.
“This is the type of fight that I want to make a statement in,” Bray was quoted as saying in the press release. “Espino is tough. He’s been in there with solid fighters. But I’m here to prove that I’m one of the top prospects in all of boxing. This is my time and my stage to show the world what I’m capable of.”

Tonight this one, 1am uk time
Re: Gurgen Hovhannisyan vs Chris Thomas
Gurgen KO in 3 rounds.
It's weird that Gurgen had a fight nearly made with Charles Martin after 4 fights. Since then he's just mostly crushed cans over the last 3 years. Someone was willing to stump up the cash to beat Martin which would've been a high profile win, it's strange that they've not targeted anyone similar since then because he looks like he might be a problem for many in the division.

Re: Gurgen Hovhannisyan vs Chris Thomas
Total mismatch, Hovhannisyan is a man mountain and Thomas is a barrell, the size difference was comical, no surprise Thomas was down from the first meaningful punch that landed in round 1, a 1/2 had him on the deck, another scuffing shot had Thomas down again in round 2, there was no way this was getting out the 3rd and sure enough Hovhannisyan opened Thomas up on the ropes before putting him down again when it was rightly waved off, trash

Re: Gurgen Hovhannisyan vs Chris Thomas
Thomas used to fight at super-middleweight, then he got fat.
Terrible opponent for Hovhannisyan, disgusting mismatch.
Hovhannisyan should be facing better journeymen like Kingsley Ibeh, Jonathan Rice or Brandon Moore.

Re: Gurgen Hovhannisyan vs Chris Thomas
Chris Thomas at 156 lbs with fat around waist. Could cut to 147 easy. Gaining 100 lbs of sh*t and fighting at heavy, good idea. I would be ashamed fighting this guy if i was Hovhannisian.

That's because they thought Big Gug was just a big fat guy
They realized that, and now no bigger names want to fight him.
