when i saw this thread i knew immediately it wasnt started by the usual mccallum posters who enjoy padding his hypothetical record vs knockovers, because the matchup is far too competitive

The bigger part is minor. Hopkins is an inch and half taller but has 1 inch shorter reach.

Skill wise they are very equal. I would not pick against Hopkins at middleweight with too many people through history, Hopkins always seemed to pull off the big wins.

Close decision for Hopkins 115-113

Either 12 or 15 Rounds, B-Hop would outbox the Bodysnatcher to take a close decision.

Technically sound, yes. Mike McCallum was better.

Historically and achievement wise? I give it to Bernard Hopkins.

Yes but Elmo’s favorites are always a “different class.”

Hopkins beats him. He’d get McCallum to lead and he counter him. McCallum would be tied up in close. Unanimous decision for Hopkins

People think that Mike McCallum was Felix "Tito" Trinidad.

I can't see Bernard Hopkins out boxing a guy like McCallum who was an extremely complete boxer. He was in another level than Hopkins.

In this fight, whoever gets outboxed is The Executioner.

Hopkins beat better fighter, had a lot of success at a higher weight class even as an old fighter, is all time great defesively, has a great chin, perfect conditioning... i can honestly thinkbof a single thing mike does better

Mike wasnt as good as james toney. Thats a fact. He couldnt win a round agaisnt roy jones (i get he was older, still not one round!) Hopkins is in that class of fighter thats better than mike mcallum

Ive never seen mike overrated except here. Its odd to me

I'd favor Hopkins by UD in a close fight.

For certain, M.M was a body body puncher than Hopkins.

McCallum was better at JMW than MW. I'd take Hopkins by decision 3-5 pts. Have any doubts ? Watch Hopkins against Roy Jones Jr in 93. I thought that fight was closer than the judges had it.

Bernard Hopkins never impressed me. He only achieved great wins against overrated superstars like Felix "Tito" Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya who were his best wins.

When he beat the great Roy Jones Jr, Jones was already shot.

Mike McCallum was in another level. It was that in his prime, he didn't had that opponent nor the opportunity to showcase his extraordinary skills.

Mike McCallum was better in every facet of the boxing game. He was a better counter puncher. Better chin, better stamina, better body puncher, better everything!

He just didn't had the opportunity to face his equal. Bernard Hopkins when he faced his equal got shut out by the great Roy Jones, Jr. That Hopkins was green? Maybe. Jones was green, too.
