GOMEZ NEEDS POLICE PROTECTION

Post by ABA Boxing »

Michael Gomez required a police escort out of the Meadowbank Arena after he repeatedly clashed with Alex Arthur following his defeat of Craig Docherty.

Gomez had to be dragged away from a post fight interview by security after he tried to gate crash it – earlier he had challenged Arthur to fight him again.

And fans who had queued for Gomez’s autograph earlier in the evening heckled him repeatedly as he continued to curse at his archrival.

But chances of a fight are still in the balance as Gomez looks dead at super-featherweight while Arthur has plenty of options at nine-stone four.

What the hell has he got to boast about?

He needs to move back in to the back seat of the car where he was born! :o

I thought Gomez was going to fight at Lightweight from now on?

I do fear for Gomez after he decides to call it a day, he seems to have too much energy and I do worry what he will be like without the discipling of boxing.

Arthur should tell Gomez to take a running jump. Gomez didnt give him a rematch now he's lost himself he's calmouring for one.

Arthur will clobber him if they do fight again.

Gomez beat Arthur fair and square, but he's got no class.

Arthur made fundamental errors in the fight with Gomez, and seems a much improved fighter now. Lovely boxer, Arthur is.

I reckon he would beat Gomez in a return, and could also give Scott Harrison trouble.

I think Gomez is quite canny, he knows that his defeat has damaged his chances of getting a rematch so he tried to needle Arthur into a rematch. Gomez battleworn as he is would still give Arthur a lot of trouble I beleive... its certainly a fight people want to see and if Arthur is so confident of victory I don't understand why he isn't interested in avenging his only pro defeat?...   ....either he wants the rematch but is playing for time or else he isn't as confident of winning the rematch as he says.
Its my understanding that Gomez has wanted a rematch all a long and it has been Arthur who has avoided Gomez rather than the other way around. I think Micheal would fight anyone in the ring, he has no fear.

I really think Gomez is finished this time. Not the fact he lost but the manner of his defeats. When he loses its a long pounding not a clean finish. The lads had enough pastings for 3 careers!!

Lear, Bognar and Alvarez all gave him a right hammering.

Gómez would not have to fight for long time (some months)

Post by aldo »

The fight with Álvarez was very hard for him and for that reason it would have to be months without fighting. Gómez has steel balls but, it sees that it does not have much brain. It lost with Alvarez by beating and it would have to think what to do and to rest, is not going to be that we must report it like one more fatality in the boxing.
