On his record under the Povetkin loss, it says Whyte was down from a left uppercut prior to the stoppage. That wasn't what happened. He went down heavily from an uppercut, out cold, and never got up, the ko being so bad the ref waved it off without counting. He didn't go down prior to the stoppage, then get up and get stopped, the knockdown is what caused the stoppage there and then.

Is it because the ref stopped it without counting that it's worded like that? That he wasn't counted out for a KO, the ref stopped it following the uppercut.

Bizarrely, some people called it a lucky punch, despite Povetkin throwing it for his entire career.

Povetkin knocking out Whyte in the match room garden was for me the best KO in a British ring. Smith writing off Povetkin just before the KO was satisfying and the cherry on top.
