Jan Paul Rivera headlines Most Valuable Prospects 14 on August 22

Undefeated Puerto Rican featherweight prospect Jan Paul Rivera will headline the next edition of Most Valuable Prospects, MVP Promotions announced today.

Rivera, 12-0 (6 KOs), will take on Miami's Daniel Bailey, 15-2 (8 KOs), in the main event of Most Valuable Prospects 14 on August 22 from the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The event will kick off MVP’s first back-to-back events, with the premier edition of MVP Fight Night taking place the following evening. That second card will feature Yankiel “El Doctorcito” Rivera, 7-0 (3 KOs), taking on Angelino “Huracan” Cordova, 19-0-1 (12 KOs), for the WBA interim flyweight world title.

The co-main event at Most Valuable Prospects 14 will see Corey “2Smoove” Marksman, 11-0-1 (8 KOs), in a 10-round lightweight bout against Luis “Bebo” Martinez, 9-1 (4 KOs). The card will also feature Las Vegas-based Cuban middleweight Yoelvis Gomez, 8-1 (7 KOs), taking on Haiti’s Edwine Humaine, 9-1 (7 KOs), over 10 rounds.

Preliminary bouts on the prospects card include undefeated junior welterweight Tayre Jones, 13-0 (7 KOs), from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, against 24-year-old Puerto Rican talent Alex Rios, 9-2 (3 KOs) over eight rounds.

The card will also feature the MVP debut of Nigeria’s Elizabeth Oshoba, 9-0 (5 KOs), the IBF’s top-ranked featherweight, who takes on Melissa Oddessa Parker, 6-3-1 (2 KOs), in an eight-rounder.

“Most Valuable Prospects 14 will kick off our first ever back-2-back events … and we’re thrilled to showcase another stacked lineup of MVP talent,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of MVP. “Jan Paul Rivera continues to climb the ranks as one of Puerto Rico’s next big stars, and we’re introducing the world to Nigeria’s Elizabeth Oshoba – who has the knockout power to put the entire 126lb division on notice – as she makes her MVP debut.”

The Most Valuable Prospects series is produced and marketed by MVP, promoted by MVP and Boxlab Promotions, and distributed globally by DAZN.

Rivera stops Bailey in the 6th, Bailey was sharp with a quick jab and was doing ok in the 1st when Rivera dropped him with a left hook, just grazed him but got the knockdown, Bailey wasn't hurt and his speed was still troubling Rivera but Rivera come into things more and more , in the 6th he turned the screw and Bailey was naive defensively, trying to rely on his reflexes to avoid the onslaught, hands by his waste and sure enough a huge right dropped him for a second time, he got up but Rivera trapped him in the corner raining down clean shots before the ref stopped things, good TKO for Rivera but nothing special and Bailey's defensive tactics were suicidal

brutal ko but jeezus that was some bad defense, just standing there with his hands down, chin out, no head movement. pedro swung for the fences too, it wasnt some 3 inch sneak shot that no one could see

I did. I gave 8 rounds to Gomez. Just a brutal battering. Gomez needs a lot of work on his defense.

People talk about best knockdowns or shots in general, what about worst? Bailey's arms were hilariously low, he's quick but not as quick as he thought he was
