BRANDON MOORE VS. DEANDRE SAVAGE TO HEADLINE SALITA PROMOTIONS CARD SEPT. 19 IN DETROIT

A heavyweight clash between Brandon Moore vs. DeAndre Savage is set to headline a Salita Promotions card on Sept. 19 at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan, on DAZN.

Moore will be making the second defense of his USBA heavyweight title when he faces Savage of nearby Flint, Michigan. In the co-feature, Olivia Curry and Kaye Scott will fight for the vacant WBA and WBC middleweight titles.

“DeAndre Savage really doesn’t have a chance,” Moore said via press release. “I’m coming in to show that I’m the better fighter. My jab, my footwork and my power make me the far superior fighter. There’s a high chance I’ll get him out before 10 rounds. You might as well start calling me the “Savage Killer.” I love fighting in this area and I’m hyped to be back, but make no mistake, I’m walking out with my hand raised and an even bigger fanbase than I came in with.”

Moore has won four straight fights since suffering the lone defeat of his career, a fifth-round stoppage loss to undefeated heavyweight contender Richard Torrez Jr. In his last fight, Moore of Lakeland, Florida, dropped and beat the previously undefeated Stanley Wright (14-1, 11 KOs) by unanimous technical decision on June 6 at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. A clash of heads caused Moore to suffer a nasty cut on his left eye, and the ringside doctor stopped the fight in the fifth round.

Moore represents a significant step up in competition for Savage (10-0, 10 KOs). Of Savage’s 10 wins, eight have come against opponents with more losses than wins on their record. He hasn’t fought beyond the second round in his last four fights.

“I know Brandon from the Olympic trials, and I respect what he’s done, but I’ve been in camps with top 10 and top 15 heavyweights–Luis Ortiz, Joseph Parker and others–so I know my skills and I’m confident in myself,” Savage said. “I haven’t fought anyone in the pros with his caliber yet, but that changes on September 19. I’m coming in at about 280 pounds — that’s real horsepower — and I plan on using every bit of it to get the job done.”

Curry (7-2-1, 2 KOs) is coming off a draw against Melody Popravak (2-2-1, 1 KO) in April 2024 and a loss to unified IBF/WBO super middleweight champion Shadasia Green (16-1, 11 KOs) in August 2023. Curry will be fighting at middleweight for the first time since 2022.

Scott (4-1) of Sydney, Australia, will be making his second bid for a world title. She’s coming off a unanimous decision loss to unified IBF/WBO middleweight champion Desley Robinson (10-3, 3 KOs) in their second meeting in December 2024. Scott won their first fight by majority decision in an eight-round fight in March 2024.

Press Release

A U.S. heavyweight showdown is brewing for Friday, Sept. 19 as Salita Promotions returns to Detroit with an exciting doubleheader headlined by USBA Heavyweight Champion Brandon “OJ Bam” Moore (18-1, 10 KOs) taking on his toughest test to date in undefeated knockout artist DeAndre Savage (10-0, 10 KOs) of nearby Flint, Mich. Adding to the action, Chicago’s Olivia Curry (7-2, 2 KOs) will collide with Australia’s Kaye Scott (4-1) for the Unified WBA/WBC Middleweight World Championship in the co-feature of a BIG TIME BOXING USA event at the historic Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit. The event, sponsored by M Select Luxury Water will stream live on the global leader of boxing, DAZN. Comerica Bank is the exclusive presenting partner of the Fox Theatre.

Salita Promotions has committed to restoring Detroit’s–and Southeast Michigan’s–big time boxing legacy and has built significant momentum in 2025. Following July’s sold-out event at Little Caesars Arena, featuring The G.W.O.A.T. Claressa Shields, and February’s sold-out event at the Dort Financial Center in nearby Flint, the burgeoning promotional company now brings a world-class boxing event to the legendary Detroit theatre for the first time in 25 years*.

Dmitriy Salita, President of Salita Promotions, sees the event as another mark for the company and a defining night for both divisions, “The Michigan sports fans have spoken and they are hungry for world class boxing. Our commitment to delivering thrilling events to both the global subscribers on DAZN and to the people of Southeast Michigan has never been stronger. This card will be stacked with regional talent, competitive matchups throughout and headlined by two explosive bouts. The heavyweight division is thriving, and Moore vs. Savage will reshape the future of the division. Brandon Moore enters with back-to-back wins over undefeated opponents, while DeAndre Savage has stopped everyone he’s faced. Add in a world championship fight between Olivia Curry and Kaye Scott, and you have a night of boxing that will deliver on every level. Fight fans are in for something special.”

“We’re proud to partner with Salita Promotions and bring big-time boxing to the iconic Fox Theatre,” said Howard Handler, President of 313 Presents. “This legendary venue has been home to some of Detroit’s most unforgettable performances, and now it will showcase the grit, drama, and excitement of championship boxing. The atmosphere of Shields vs. Daniels at a sold-out Little Caesars Arena was electric and we’re building on that momentum to spotlight the resurgence of boxing in Detroit at another of our world-class venues.”

Moore, the 6’6” champion from Lakeland, Fla., is coming off a decisive unanimous decision victory over previously unbeaten Stanley Wright, a bout that featured a third-round knockdown and showcased his ability to control range, dictate pace, and deliver fight-altering power shots. Moore, alongside trainer Charles Whittaker, looks to extend his streak with a third consecutive win against his most dangerous challenge to date.

“I want to thank Salita Promotions, DAZN and the team at 313 Presents for giving me the opportunity to showcase my skills again in this region and to the world,” said Moore. “DeAndre Savage really doesn’t have a chance. I’m coming in to show that I’m the better fighter.

Savage, Flint’s heavy-hitting prospect, is known for his relentless pressure and concussive power. He steps into his first professional title fight with a perfect record and a 100 percent knockout ratio. The 280-pound powerhouse is coming off a dominant second-round TKO over Eduardo Santana in January, an emphatic victory that further cemented his reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous punchers. Now, he steps into his most significant test to date against Moore.

“I know Brandon from the Olympic trials, and I respect what he’s done, but I’ve been in camps with top 10 and top 15 heavyweights–Luis Ortiz, Joseph Parker and others–so I know my skills and I’m confident in myself,” said Savage. “I haven’t fought anyone in the pros with his caliber yet, but that changes on September 19. I’m coming in at about 280 pounds — that’s real horsepower — and I plan on using every bit of it to get the job done.”

Curry, a proven contender known for her high-volume pressure will look to capture her first unified crown when she faces Australia’s Kaye Scott for the vacant titles. Curry, known for her relentless pace and durability, moved up to super middleweight for a competitive 10-round bout against top contender Shadasia Green before returning to her natural weight at 160 pounds. Now, with her aggressive style and guidance from longtime trainer Trinidad Garcia, she looks to make a statement on fight night and cement her place among the elite.

“This is an exciting time in women’s boxing right now, and I’m happy I can be part of this chapter fighting on a big stage like this. I plan to showcase my talent and create excitement in the middleweight division starting with this event,” said Curry. “I feel much more comfortable at this weight and my power really shines. I plan to take her in deep waters and drown her.”

Scott made her professional debut in 2023 with a victory over Connie Chan to win the vacant Australasian female middleweight title. She has progressed quickly through the professional ranks in just five fights. She followed up with a majority decision over Desley Robinson for the Australian middleweight title, before facing Robinson again in December 2024 for the vacant IBF middleweight title. While she came up short, the bout set the stage for her second world title opportunity on September 19.

“I’m so thankful to be making my U.S. debut next month. In my town, it was illegal for women to box amateur or as a pro, so I had to go to another town to fight and build up my career, but I’m ready!” said Scott. “I’m going to make my country proud and showcase my skills. I have an extensive amateur background and fought with championship level fighters. I’m determined and I’m feeling confident going into this fight.”

An exciting undercard featuring a mix of rising prospects, local favorites, and action-packed matchups will be announced in the coming weeks.

*The only professional boxing event on record at Fox Theatre was on June 10, 2000–HBO Boxing: Acelino Freitas vs. Lemuel Nelson

Brandon Moore: Moses Itauma has yet to be tested

Brandon Moore has his sights set on DeAndre Savage next and Moses Itauma in the future.

Moore faces Savage at Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit on September 19. The bout will be broadcast on DAZN.

Moore, 31, believes that Itauma’s first-round knockout of the faded former contender Dillian Whyte isn’t as impressive as it seems.

“You fight someone who is 37 years old, of course, you are going to beat the old man, unfortunately,” Moore, 18-1 (10 KOs), told Boxing Scene. “These English polite guys come get your ass whooped by an American heavyweight. He is fighting these slow English guys who are polite.”

“These guys are boring heavyweights,” Moore said. “They give me Klitschko vibes.”

Moore also believes Itauma, the 19-year-old with a record of 13-0 (11 KOs), has yet to be pushed, and is eager for the chance to do so.

“He hasn’t been tested, and I want to be that test,” Moore said. “I am ready to see what he is about.”

Moore, of Lakeland, Florida, began boxing as an adult. He admits he is still learning, but the former college basketball player has put his competitive drive into boxing. He entered the sport with a mindset of facing the most formidable fighters he could. Moore had strong words for Savage ahead of their bout.

“I am going to make this fight look real easy,” Moore said. “I want to be known for taking the hard fights. I take the best fights I can, and my resume proves it.”

Savage, 10-0 (10 KOs), is a big puncher who is looking to step up in competition. Savage, a 34-year-old from Flint, Michigan, has won all of his bouts by knockout, except for a September no-contest to KeShawn Jackson in his hometown. Moore credits his recent wins over Stanley Wright and Sklyar Lacy to the experience he gained in a loss to Richard Torrez Jnr last year.

“I have been fighting for seven years just gaining experience,” Moore said. “The Torrez fight really set me up to beat these last two undefeated fighters.”

Moore believes that if he keeps winning, a fight with Itauma will get made. He explained why.

“It is going to get made, because as long as I say I want it,” Moore said. “If he doesn’t take it, that means he is ducking the fight.”

Brandon Moore derides DeAndre Savage as 'big and sloppy' heavyweight, predicts early stoppage

Brandon Moore doesn’t think fellow heavyweight prospect DeAndre Savage is on his level. He aims to prove this in the main event Friday night at Fox Theater in Detroit, which will be streamed on DAZN.

Moore, 18-1 (10 KOs), enters the bout on a four-fight win streak, but more impressively has defeated unbeaten fighters Skylar Lacy and Stanley Wright in his previous bouts. Savage, 10-0 (10 KOs), who spoke to BS in the lead-up to the fight, predicted he’d stop the 31-year-old Moore. Moore believes he stops Savage in half that time.

“I know what is really going to happen, I am probably going to knock him out in three or four rounds,” Moore of Lakeland, Florida, told Boxing Scene. “He won’t be able to keep up with my pace.”

Moore acknowledged he believes he is coming into this fight at 230lbs, 26 pounds less than his fight against Wright. He also heard an interview where Savage, 34, stated that he would come in at 280lbs. Moore adds that his only amateur memory of Savage was him getting “torched” by Jeremiah Milton at the 2020 Olympic Trials. Moore didn’t hold back on questioning Savage’s conditioning

“He is like all the other big guys,” Moore said. “Big and sloppy.”

When asked about the resume of Flint, Michigan’s Savage, Moore went on another tangent, saying that Savage has fought developmental opposition, with no distinguishable names.

“I didn’t want to go there, and wanted people to think I am fighting a credible guy; but he has no credible wins,” Moore said. “I don’t want to talk bad about him, because I am fighting him, but he is 10-0 and hasn’t fought anybody. You look at my record, and I have fought credible people.”

Moore points to his resume with recent wins over Wright and Lacy, as well as beating veteran journeymen such as Curtis Harper, Helaman Olguin, and Robert Simms, as an example of facing tougher opposition.

“Do I think Savage is on my level – no – so I need to go out here and handle my business,” Moore said. “Anytime he has had a tough fight, he hasn’t won the fight. It is a no-contest or something like that.”

Moore doubled down on the sentiment.

“I am a professional ass beater,” Moore said. “He is going to get knocked out in the second or third round.”

DeAndre Savage hoping victory over Brandon Moore leads to the ‘big dogs’

DeAndre Savage says his fight with Brandon Moore won’t go beyond the sixth round. The two will fight on Friday at the Fox Theater in Detroit and it will stream on DAZN.

Savage enters the fight as a flawless professional – 10-0 (10 KOs) – but he hasn’t faced world-class opposition. Regardless, Savage, who competed in the 2020 Olympic Trials, is not lacking confidence ahead of his first major step-up as a professional.

“The fight isn’t going past six rounds,” Savage, 34, told Boxing Scene. “Remember I said this.

“This is the chance of a lifetime. I got to go through him to get to the big dogs.”

Savage, originally from Flint, Michigan, is managed by Eugene Ryvkin who he signed with Ryvkin last year. The partnership has thus far spawned six fights, mostly overseas. Savage explained the model for his career development: “I always knew I wanted to take the independent route. I told Bill Haney before that I was following their blueprint.”

A subplot involves Jeremiah Milton. Savage and Milton have had a rivalry that dates back to Milton defeating Savage at the Olympic Trials. The two have called each other out on social media. For now, Moore will have to do.

“This fight is actually better than the Jeremiah fight,” Savage said. “It is my time to take over.”

Moore, 18-1 (10 KOs), stopped Stanley Wright in June. Wright defeated Milton in January via a unanimous decision. Savage seeks a win and also to have bragging rights against his rival, whom he seems destined to face one day.

Moore, 31, competed at the 2020 Olympic Trials, but at heavyweight, which is capped at 201lbs. Lakeland, Florida’s Moore has rebounded from his loss to Richard Torrez Jnr last year to win four straight fights. Most notably, since signing with Salita Promotions in January, he defeated a pair of unbeaten fighters, Skylar Lacy and Wright.

Savage enters the fight with a bitter taste in his mouth toward his hometown region despite his knockout streak. Last September, he had a no-contest in his hometown of Flint when an accidental blow halted the bout, meaning there was no victor. Savage, who trained in Arizona for this fight, looks to come back to Michigan with added animosity

“I am bringing the attitude with me. I am coming in with a chip on my shoulder,” Savage said. “I got a point to prove.”

Brandon Moore scored a big win against his third unbeaten opponent, outboxing DeAndre Savage in a thrilling 10-round main event at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on Friday night.

The judges had it at 100-89, 99-90, and 100-89 in his favor.

Since teaming up with Salita Promotions back in January, Moore has racked up impressive victories over unbeaten fighters like Skylar Lacy and Stanley Wright, and now he’s added Savage’s perfect record to his list of accomplishments.

Had it a shut out as well, Savage was piss poor, looked like a flabby barrell, didn't offer anything, he landed a double jab in the last round, that was all I can remember him landing, if there was ever a fight won on the jab it was this one, Moore's was excellent, he was busy with it for the 10 rounds, just constantly popping it in Savage's face, maybe he could've cut loose a bit more but the jab was key, he began dropping the right hand more, not much mind but he did drop Savage in the 7th with a textbook right cross, couldn't get him out of there though but was content to jab away to the win, pretty easy nights work for Moore

Really lousy card. But, lousy boxing is better than no boxing.
