Nicklaus Flaz-Peter Dobson to headline ProBox TV on Sept. 27

klaus Flaz will look to extend his winning streak to seven and Peter Dobson will try to get his career back on track when they meet on September 27 at the Kissimmee Events Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

The 10-round welterweight fight will headline an installment of ProBox TV.

The 29-year-old Flaz, 15-2 (10 KOs), of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, is coming off a fourth-round stoppage of Alan Sanchez in May and is riding a winning streak that saw him claim the unbeaten records of Brian Ceballo and Jahi Tucker.

Dobson, 16-2 (9 KOs), of The Bronx, New York, is coming off back-to-back defeats – though he fought outstanding opposition in both fights – giving a competent effort in decision losses to undefeated fighters Conor Benn and Jalil Hackett last year. The 35-year-old Dobson, who was a 2010 New York Golden Gloves novice champ, currently works with the New York Fire Department.

“Dobson is a great, tough fighter that gave Connor Benn and Jalil Hacket hard fights, so I’m expecting a tough fight. My goal is to make a statement come September 27,” said Flaz, who is ranked No. 11 by the WBO and IBF at 147lbs.

“I want the welterweight division to notice me and know that I’m a force to be reckoned with, and that I will be a world champion soon.”

Dobson and his manager didn't respond to requests for comment.

The co-main event features light heavyweight contender Najee Lopez, 14-0 (11 KOs), in a 10-round bout with former title challenger Kalvin Henderson, 19-2-1 (13 KOs). Lopez, 25, of Atlanta, is coming off a second-round stoppage of Juan Gerardo Osuna in May, while Henderson, 35, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has won four straight since his fourth-round stoppage loss to WBA super middleweight titleholder David Morrell Jnr in 2022.

The card will have two more 10-rounders: Darrelle Valsaint, 13-0 (11 KOs), of nearby Orlando, will face Mexico's Isaias Lucero, 19-3 (13 KOs), while Emiliano Moreno, of Long Beach, California, will meet Raul Garcia, 14-2-1 (12 KOs), of the Dominican Republic.

Valsaint, a 2020 Olympian for Haiti, most recently stopped Rodolfo Orozcoin in eight rounds in May, while Lucero, of Tijuana, will be fighting his second Olympian, having lost a decision to 2016 silver medalist Souleymane Cissokho in 2023.

Moreno is coming off a seventh-round stoppage of Erick Bone in June, which helped buffer the impact of his controversial stoppage win over Cesar Francis four months earlier (since changed to a no-contest). Garcia is coming off a third-round stoppage of Andre Sherard in March, which came after two straight losses to Leonardo Ruiz and Vladimir Hernandez.

Najee Lopez says a new fire burns after Artur Beterbiev rumors

Being mentioned as a potential opponent for Artur Beterbiev has ignited a new fire in Najee Lopez.

Lopez faces Kalvin Henderson in a 10-round light heavyweight bout that is the main event on Saturday at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida. The bout will stream on ProBox TV.

Lopez, 14-0 (11 KOs), has never needed motivation, as his trainer Marc Farrait raves about his work ethic. Yet Lopez recently found himself as a rumored opponent for Beterbiev’s return on November 22. Deon Nicholson instead ended up with the fight, but now Lopez enters his latest bout with an even deeper desire to improve and be ready for a major opportunity in the future.

“I didn’t get the fight, but the call changed my whole mentality,” Lopez told BS. “When the opportunity arrives, I am just making sure I am prepared.”

Lopez, a 25-year-old from Ellenwood, Georgia, who trains in Florida, faces Henderson, 19-2-1 (13 KOs), who is on a four-fight win streak since being knocked out by David Morrell in a super middleweight bout. Lopez aims to snap Henderson’s win streak and continue to be in the running to land a big fight, as he is ranked No. 10 by the WBA and No. 14 by the IBF.

“I know I am in the conversation with those guys,” Lopez told BS. “It motivates me to keep pushing and keep getting better.”

Lopez warms up before his fights to country music, and he has movie villains such as Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger tattooed on his body, characters he related to in his youth.

“I wasn’t a tough guy, but I was tough,” Lopez said.

Henderson, a 35-year-old from Fayetteville, Arkansas, received a stern warning.

“I am really simple. I am not the type of guy to pop my shit,” Lopez said. “He definitely needs to be ready. I know that.”

Najee Lopez can pronounce himself as ProBox's next star with victory on Saturday

The path being opened by Lester Martinez has a talented follower in light-heavyweight Najee Lopez.

The 26-year-old Puerto Rico product headlines Saturday’s ProBoxTV card from Kissimmee, Florida, when he meets Arkansas Kalvin Henderson 19-2-1 (13 KOs) at Osceola Heritage Park.

The co-main event features similarly promising Emiliano Moreno 12-0 (7 KOs) of Long Beach, California, meets Dominican Republic’s Raul Garcia 14-2-1 (12 KOs) in welterweight action.

On an episode of ProBoxTV’s “BS Today” this week, analysts and former world champions Chris Algieri and Paulie Malignaggi broke down the two bouts that begin at 6 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Pacific on ProBox TV’s YouTube channel.

Two weeks after ProBoxTV super-middleweight contender Martinez enhanced his stock greatly by fighting interim champion Christian Mbilli to a draw in the Terence Crawford-Canelo Alvarez co-main event, Lopez 14-0 (11 KOs) seeks to elevate his position while currently ranked 10th by the WBA among 175lbs contenders.

“It’s pressure, but it’s also a lot of excitement,” Malignaggi said. “It’s so close you can almost taste it while there’s a danger lurking in front of you that can stop you from getting there. You’re almost there, but Kalvin Henderson is not exactly a gimme.”

Lopez is riding a three-fight streak of stoppages after being dropped by Steven Sumpter in a July 2024 ProBox card, building a reputation for fighting “fire with fire,” according to Algieri.

“Kalvin has banana peel written all over him … seems to be in great shape, has a quiet confidence and has enough of a punch and experience to get the win. This is a real tough fight.

While Lopez has shown “growing pains” during his development, the analysts said landing this type of fight also shows Lopez has the means to win impressively and accelerate his climb in a division loaded with talent that includes champions Dmitry Bivol and David Benavidez along with former champion Artur Beterbiev and elite contender David Morrell of Cuba.

“You’ve got to be ready [for a test like this],” Malignaggi said. “Kalvin has been in there with Morell [losing by fourth-round TKO in 2022]. The top of the division’s getting older. The phenoms [like Lopez] have potential. You learn things you need to work on, to protect, to look out for.

“Najee has power with athleticism and can be destructive. The only question is, ‘Does he have the chin?’”

Balancing knowing when to step on and off the gas is part of that process.

“Once you get to that highest level, there’s no mistakes or you’ll find yourself waking up in a dressing room or down 10-0 on points,” Algieri said.

As the 20-year-old Moreno continues his ascent versus Garcia, 27, he too should resolve “you can’t knock everyone out.

“Emiliano has been in tough on our [ProBoxTV] air every single time and it speaks to his team’s confidence,” Algieri said.

Defeating veteran contender Erick Bone by seventh-round TKO last time out was encouraging and even if Garcia turns to a “lull-them-to-sleep” style seeking a victory by decision, Moreno should assert his will.

“Garcia has the burden of that he was once a prospect and may feel he’s being used as an opponent,” Malignaggi said. “It’s a clash here, a crossroads fight. … You expect Moreno to come through as a blue-chip prospect, but this is a battle on a lot of fronts. If Moreno puts the hurt on Garcia, it’s a big career trajectory win.”

I really like Lopez. The only time he was knocked down involved him doing some gymnastic move to get back up again. The ironic thing is that Kalvin Henderson has a very similar guy to the guy who floored him. That hasn't stopped me lumping money on Najee. :bag:
