World Rankings.

Post by justicebrown »

How are your world rankings compiled? I am 1-2 with one KO, and I am ranked 249, yet the fighter that beat my twice is 13-3-1 and only ranked six spots ahead of me at #243. Also, a stablemate of mine is ranked lower than me at 281, has a record of 8-2-2, and fought to a draw with the guy that beat me twice, by decision. How is this possible? Thanks.

You cannot simply compare wins and losses indepent from the time of the bout. The ratings depend on the time, when the bouts took place in everyone's carreer.

For lower-rated boxers, say with less than 1000 points, the ratings mainly depend on whom they defeated - this is not the same as a draw.

For your information, I append the development of the ratings for every boxer you mentioned. You see the ratings after the bouts.

So you can see:

1. Before Mike Wood defeated you, he already had more points than he could get for this win. It was the time, before you had any win.

2. You are only some points behind him, as you later defeated a boxer. This could have had the result, that you could even be rated higher than him now.

3. Jesse Bryon only defeated inferior boxers than both of you and Mike Wood. And the draw with Mike Wood is not comparable to win - it not even brings him near to Mike Wood.

I hope this helps.

Please refer to the rating thread, if you should have any further questions or discussion:

Ratings

Post by justicebrown »

So, according to the computer ratings, I am better than Jesse, and just a step below Michael......HHHmmmmm. Fought mike both times on 2 weeks notice, should have gotten at least a draw on the rematch, yet I'm below him?????? I don't think so......I was blown up, am a natural 160, and would smoke him like a pack of Kools in any future fights. Just playin with ya......not really though. Thanks for the reply:-)
