Obviously Hobson v Haye is a peach.

But isnt it great to see Jimmy Vincent finally land his chance to get revenge. The decision in the first fight to award it to Barnes was an absolute disgrace, remember the talk in Barnes' corner of him being pulled out around the 8th.

Admittedly though, Barnes has gone on to establish himself as a very fine boxer.

However Boxing only damages itself with decisions like the first fight and only heaps more damage on itself when it refuses to make the obvious rematches.

Personally I reckon the plan of the powers-to-be was to wait so long so that Vincent got bashed up some where along the line and would be forced out of the title picture, thus leaving a clearer way for the younger, more marketable Barnes. Well done to Jimmy Vincent for hanging in there.

Interesting to see whether it was a one off or whether Vincent just has his number. Barnes has looked impressive since, the win over Hare, against most predictions, was a good one. Hare has only been beaten by top drawer fighters in his career.

Yeah that what makes me think that Vincent has missed the boat. Barnes looked very, very good against Hare. He never wasted a punch and totally dominated Hare into submission. Although I wouldnt have said that
Cosme Rivera was a 'top drawer fighter', more like a solid fighter who ran into a very tired Hare.

I was gutted for Vincent after his first fight with Barnes, but since then Barnes' performances have turned me in to a big fan of his. I think he can go places.

Thing with Vincent is that he is an extremely strong welterweight. It showed in their first fight and also against David Walker. I think Barnes has matured physically and could perhaps match Vincent for strength. However I would take the route that Eamonn Magee did, and nullify Vincent with good clever counter boxing, whilst digging in a few reminders of his strength by sitting down on one or two of his punches before moving away.

WELTERWEIGHT DAVID BARNES (Holder) v JIMMY VINCENT

Barnes has got to be the favourite going into this one, and even if he does beat Vincent convincingly it will not remove the bad taste left by that first decision, unfortunately.

LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT MICHAEL JONES (Holder) v JAMIE MOORE

Let's see this ASAP and get a clean conclusion to this saga.

James noticed u say Hare has only been beaten by top drawer fighters,the truth is he`s only been beaten by Rivera before Barnes full stop....but I thought Barnes was on top form that night and Hare wasnt and the truth is ,you cant allow that,you have always got to be up...no excuses.
However the Rivera loss is not too bad now.......previous to Hare Rivera had had a couple of very notable wins and is doing well.
I think Barnes will get better if he understands what he needs to do ,basically knuckle down for the next few years.

Riddick...Hobson has never been blown away by anyone and Haye certainly wont do it.

Why wasn't Hare in top form? As you said no excuses, if something was wrong with Hare he shouldn't have fought - but, was there a problem with Hare.

My perception and I might be wrong was that Hare was looking good up untill he got hurt.

Your right on Riveria, the guy looks a geniune world contendor now.

Both you and RiddickBlowe don't think Froch will fight Barney. I know he has signed up with ODH but he has also previously emphasised his desire to go the traditional route of British , Commonwealth etc

Haye is 'training' in Tenerife?

Methinks he could be trying to get Hobson riled up so Mark goes straight at him - he must know his stamina is shit; he is probably having a proper good time going out after 'training'.
Would be interesting if Hobson ran for the first six (oh fornicate it, three) rounds and didn't engage in the baiting counterpuncher. Even better just block and drag him forward (he'll come slowly), make it ugly and don't even fight. Haye is a free TKO for anyone with the guile to expose him.

Not sure what I make of the Haye quote - he seems a bit "It all about the World, baby" - but he has a point. I wish a lot of boxers had fought the opposition he had in 14 fights. He has beaten 2 inflated 10 ten fighters and lost to a geniune 10 tenner in 14 fights. That shows confidence in his ability.

However, I do think he should focus on domestic level first of all - I have no doubt that Hobson would have destroyed Kelly and Williams also.

Maybe he should concentrate on getting himself in fighting condition and out of the celebrity circuit rather than talking shit.

His ego is huge, I thought the Thompson fight would have changed him for the better but it seems not to me.
