Did anyone here go to see it at the cinema or arena back then ?
What was it like ?

I didnt get to see it, as I had no money and no car to get 15 miles to town.
Some people at school did however, and they talked about this preliminary bout from what I remember.

Inoki would have destroyed Ali if he hadn't been handcuffed.

yeah, that's why Inoki spent ALL the ring time lying flat on the canvas.
Have you ever tried to jab someone lying down ?

Haven't you read about the tactical restrictions imposed on Inoki in the bout?

Ali had no business taking the fight in the first place, it is definite he made a lot of bad moves in that time period.

I saw this fight if you call it a fight. Ali disgraced himself and Imo should have lost this fight under fair judgement. But the referee called it a draw.

I wonder if it, in any way, affected his performance against Ken Norton 3 months later.
