I'd favor Cooney by KO sometime in the first 5 rounds. He'd have a little trouble catching up to Walcott at first who was defensively more clever than him, and quicker, but Cooney has a big, big size and strength advantage over Walcott, and I think he'd eventually get to him.

Walcott would have his moments outboxing Cooney behind his quick jabs and counter combinations through the first 5 rounds, then Cooney's size and power would overwhelm Walcott by catching him off the corner and ropes with body punches. Then Cooney landed big left hooks hurt Walcott in the 6th round and in the 7th, he would put Walcott down with a big left hook and Walcott would be counted out or stopped on his feet.

Without doubt, Cooney was a formidable contender with height, reach, and a great left hand. I don't know if he could deal with the Walcott of the first Louis match. Walcott was shifty, quick, durable, and a devastating puncher.

I like Cooney to KO Jersey Joe. Walcott wasn't mobile enough to outpoint Cooney and he's too small to walk through him a la Foreman.
