I think this lad is our best prospect, forget your Mitchell's, Hayes', Murrays. I honestly think with the right work, this lad can be sucessful at European level - perhaps beyond.
However, I was dissapointed with him last night - still looks as if he should be fighting at Light Welter (at least) and still seems to have one or two problems with stamina. You don't see him having many 5th / 6th round KO's - he seems to go very flat after 3 rounds. This for me is my biggest worry.
What does everyone else think of the Welsh/Irish man. Do you rate him as a fine prospect (like I do) or do you think last night exposed him?

I agree with Jim Watt: have a rematch in 6 months or so and see if he can get the stoppage. Let's see him take control with the jab instead of be content to just score points with it - a bad habit he has picked up from fighting the Usual Suspects. Last nights fight was good for him, maybe the most important in his development so far.
That was first time I`d watched him fight on Friday, looked pretty good for a 22yr old ( I think he`s 22).
But I too thought he looked like he could train down to the lighter weight, I wrote it earlier that I thought a kid of his age should be as lithe and hard as the game demands of a young prospect.

thought that since i first saw him in reading on the Sprott skelton undercard.
I havent seen anything to allay those fears yet. but he might grow a bit more power, happened to Junior witter after all!
I don't worry about Doherty's power, he might not be concussive - but he has good shot "form" and I think can hurt people. My worry is does the snap go after 3 rounds? He seemed to be mouth open after the 4th in his last fight, and it does seem that if he cannot get you out of there early he tends to struggle to hurt you later on.
