When was this introduced, pior to its introduction were fighters weighed in at ringside?

Also do you feel it has been beneficial or detrimental to boxing?

Well people coming into the ring a stone heavier than when they got weighed is ridiculous to me, so the nearer to the fight the better. Makes a mockery of weight divisions, and when discussions come up about having fewer divisions, and people say, "oh no, 4lb can make a huge difference." In that case, you surely have to ensure the fighters are within 4lb of each other when they actually fight.
