Really good fighter, one of those rugged Argentinians we see from time to time that we like so much.
Went the distance with a 17-0 Roy in 92.

It was a very different landscape back then. Castro turned pro at 19 years old. In his first five years as a pro he had these numbers of bouts:

1987: 13 bouts (Five 10-rounders)
1988: 19 bouts (Fifteen 10-rounders)
1989: 13 bouts
1990: 12 bouts
1991: 15 bouts - the last vs Terry Norris for the WBC world title
1992: 10 bouts - including a loss to Roy Jones Jr
Etc...

Today he would be 12-0 after five years

Castro considered fighting regularly to be his training because he didn’t like spending time in the gym every day and needed to fight regularly. One of the best chins ever and a big hitter

A heavy smoker too.

Incredible how he had so many fights while doing that but it caught up with him in the end.

R.I.P. Champ. You have the respect of every boxing fan.
