Jeff Lacy vs. Robin Reid - But What About Calzaghe?

Post by Juice Terry »

Column previewing Robin Reid v Jeff Lacy:

I expect Lacy to take care of Reid reasonably comfortably.

But I'm wondering how the British fans who have seen Lacy rate his chances if he ever meets Joe Calzaghe. Calzaghe has not appeared a lot on US TV, so I'm interested to know what the British fans think about this potential matchup.

No disrespect to Reid cos he is a quality operator but I feel he's winding his career down and looking for the paydays.

Lacy prob has more hunger but Reid's excellent chin and expereience should make this a fairly good fight. I pick lacy, something like 115-113. I dont think Reid will be stopped at all tho like Ive heard 1 or 2 suggest.

If Reid is there its to win the title, I wouldn`t ever expect him just to take it for the pay day, and I give him a very good chance of pulling off the upset.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Reid pulled off an 'upset'.

Hard to rate Calzaghe at the moment i think, hasnt been upto much recently and maybe he's not been motivated or not, who knows.

Lacy outpoints Reid easily, but I think Calzaghe has way too much for Lacy at this point.

Reids only chance is a stoppage, Lacy should be able to outwork him pretty easily.

Yes, Reid has been talking about winding down for a while, but if he's looking for a paday, defending the IBF belt wouldn't be a bad earner...

I give Reid a shot he should be motivated, he still has a dig and he may catch Lacy and deter him often enough.
