Ok that fight was amazing, just what boxing fans needed. It will go down as one of the best fights in history, i'm just glad I watched it live.

and if you saw the Showtime fights on Friday night you would have had your double knockdown

then the next punch ends the fight, all in 22 seconds.

That was an amazing fight! So glad I saw it live, it was something else. Full credit to lvlarc_uk for the link and info on how to see it, this is the next level for us UK boxing fans who miss out on all the major US fights! Great stuff

Round 10 was amazing as was thw whole fight, shows you we can still have some great contests today

I gave it a go and it worked well. You have to pay £1.60 for a month for the Boxing streams, but money well spent, flowed very well non-stop, saw Calzaghe and then the Corrales War on Showtime, all live

Takes a bit of getting your head around the site, before the streams are on it says on the forum what channel. But you can't reply them, nor do I know anywhere it can be downloaded.

I'll have the Showtime broadcast coming, so let me know if you need it. It will be added onto the "Best Of USA" Volumes.

Great fight, I thought the referee's stoppage was perfect, Castillo was completly gone and his hands were by his side. You do have to feel a bit sorry for him though.

Corrales did take his mouthpiece out after the second knockdown and it brought him some precious seconds, that could have been the difference.

I think the stoppage was right, Castillo was getting badly rocked after Corrales came back. Corrales was near out himself, but I don't think the mouth piece had too much to do with it, I thought the punchs were catching up on Castillo over the rounds and he was getting broke down. It was a matter of who got the heavy shots in during the late rounds and Corrales was able to recover from the ones he took more so than Castillo hense the stoppage in the tenth. Had Castillo jumped on Corrales again, it could have been the other way. But thats Boxing and Corrales won the fight.

Re-match for late summer should be made as they are the top two, what a fight!

Nearly got it (last wobbly sentence aside). I never expected Corrales to be capable of pulling it out like that... though as knockout states - the signs were probably there. He was definitely 'there' mentally after the Mayweather fight was stopped. I remember he went wild at his father (or uncle was it?) in the corner afterward, swearing and shaking away their arms. Then in the first Casamayor fight he actually rocked Joel after he'd been decked and finished the last round somewhat strongly.

From what I've read, this was definitely a candidate for fight of the year, and also decade. Of all time... not so sure - there was a chap called Saad Muhammad who used to do this sort of thing every few months on ESPN during the 80's. The good thing about this fight, however, is that my man Chico is getting a lot of respect from the fans - long overdue, IMO. As for Castillo... what a warrior, sounds like he showed a Cobb-like chin and granite resolve to keep the outcome swinging in balance. I think you'd need to be a good few divisions up to KO this guy cleanly with only a single burst of punching.

The one thing I worry about with this fight is that both fighters looked a bit out of it afterward (from the pictures I've seen). And I don't mean in the usual sense. With these type of fights the guys usually have to leave part of themselves in the ring to make it what it was; I wouldn't like to see an immediate rematch, relatively safe and 'easy' fights for the next year will do for now.

Need some advice about these live internet stream sites - obviously the way to go from now on.

I don't have broadband at moment, I get free internet at home through work, so have never bothered, but obviously I need it now - what's best one to go for - any reccomendations??

What are these live links like, pretty reliable? Or do they tend to crash mid fight?
I recall someone on here tuning into the Pacman fight via an obscure Chinese tv station on the net? How does that work?

Any way of hooking up a way to record the fight on disc, or do you have to watch it live at 4AM?

You can watch internet TV via winamp and probably a number of other bits of software. There's load of internet TV now.

The best deal i found for broadband is homechoice, you can get cable tv, phone and broadband all in one, and it's all done through your phone line. 35 quid a month for the whole shabang, and they've got all the channels you'd want too. If I wasn't already signed up to sky and tiscali, I'd sign with them.

Thanks James, sounds a good deal. Don't really need a phone line, as I get that through work too, and I'm probably chucking in the whole Sky shebang after 5th June - so I guess it's broadband only I should go for.

And welcome back Loynsey-who-gets-to-go-to-all-the-fights.

Just saw this fight and it was a cracker - clinchless infighting all the way through till about round 8ish, when the intensity began to take its toll on the two fighters. Both were rocked occasionally.

I've criticised Tony Weeks in the past for being too... erm... weak, when it came to stamping his authority on a fight. A few occasions in the past I've thought he let a fight get too messy, and the fighters showed him no respect. Better than the amateurish over-officiating we sometimes see from Nady (who was sitting ringside for this one in a black shirt), but still criticisable.

Stopping fights is an art form, in my opinion, and I think this was a perfect stoppage, absolutely spot on. Immediate signs to look for that say it was a good stoppage: 1) Castillo's eyes were pointing in the opposite direction to where Corrales was positioned (and where the punches were coming from) while his head was being bounced about 2) Castillo's hands actually go down when Weeks bear hugs him 3) Castillo looks utterly shell-shocked for some time after the stoppage, it's only when he recognises the crowd jeers and the protestations of his corner that he catches on. In other words, he was out of it for a good few minutes after the stoppage.

Performances like that can do wonders for a ref's career. I'd like Weeks to get some more high profile gigs in the coming year, he earned a shot with not only the stoppage in this fight, but the way he read every page right from the opening bell. He also did the right thing taking a point away from Corrales for dropping his mouthpiece the second time. Blatant though it was, Weeks showed no hesitation.

Just seen it myself, truly remarkable. Regarding the stoppage, it was funny really, had Castillo gone down he probably would have been ok but he was on the ropes taking full blooded shots with his hands down, he had to be stopped.

If anythign the Calzaghe stoppage was dodgier, Veit didn't even look hurt, just scared.

Amazing fight....

Odd how such a big guy like Viet just had absolutely no authority in there. I don't think he's got the mental toughness to ever beat someone like Calzaghe. The likes of Salim did have, IMO, but had nowhere near the skills to back it up. Oh well, it was a good marking time fight for Joe while he waits for the Tarver's and Joneses (oh, he's gone now isn't he?) and Hopkinses to stop running from him, so he can get the defining fights he craves.
