Imagine if a young Sugar Ray Robinson hadn't of stolen the identity of a young boxer called Ray Robinson & boxed under his real name, would we think any differently of him?

Maybe not, but I don't think would make that much a difference. Plenty fighters have had names that don't make them sound as badass as they were. Take a name like Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker. How dorky does that name really sound? For a guy who has no clue about boxing he'd probably guess it was the unknown brother of the artist Roger Whitaker.
Or how about Sandy Saddler? If you didn't know he was a hall of fame boxer, you'd never guess it. Charley Burley also sounds like a dork imo.
I agree Walker Smith Jr. doesn't sound as flashy as Sugar Ray Robinson, his name was as special as the man, but it wouldn't make a difference to as we view his incredible career today.
