Wayne Alexander is predicting he'll stop Danish fighter Christian Bladt within five rounds in his non-title fight at the MEN Arena this Saturday.
The Croydon fighter is looking to impress the huge worldwide television audience tuning in to watch the fight on Sky Sports as part of the Ricky Hatton v Kostya Tsyzu undercard, and he hopes an impressive victory will prompt his promoter allegedly to organise another title fight.
Alexander said: "allegedly said to me last year he'll get me a major fight. Even though this isn't a title fight, he said treat it like a title fight, as it's in front of a big audience.
"But I believe I am going to be a major world champion next year. The plan is to become one of the best light middleweights to come out of Great Britain."
The 31-year-old has once again gone through a rigorous training programme at his training camp in Belfast, where he has been located for nearly three months.
He runs 30 miles each week to get in the best physical and mental condition for the fight Alexander said: "This is the hard part, but the harder we train the better the fight is going to be.
"But I'm in one of the best shapes I have ever been for a fight. Coming over here Belfast has made me a much fitter fighter than I was.
"Running up the mountains of Armagh has been challenging, but it's going to pay off."
Alexander's opponent, Christian Bladt, has a decent boxing pedigree, being a former European champion and winning 28 out of 33 fights (seven by KO).
But despite his useful record and confident prediction in the Danish press, Alexander is still confidant he will be easily dealt with.
Alexander said: "I read on the internet that he said he was going to give me a good spanking'.
"I'm not taking it for granted, as he's a useful fighter and he's been the distance before.
"But I predict I'll stop him in five rounds."
Alexander is flying out straight to Manchester from Belfast on Friday night and hopes to return victorious to Croydon on Sunday where he will be reunited with his girlfriend Carly and their baby daughter Sade.
Alexander added: "It's been very hard being away from home, everyone misses their family.
"But in years to come they will appreciate why I have to go away, hopefully life will be much more comfortable for them."
