Sparwood Recreation Centre - July 1

Post by Glenn Cook »

Hey guys,

There was a card at the Sparwood Recreation Centre in Sparwood, B.C., Canada, last night, and I thought I'd pass on the results in case you were interested.

1) Preston Hartzog (308 lbs., Las Vegas, Nev.) vs. Tye Fields (277 lbs., Las Vegas, Nev.) — This was an exhibition bout between two of trainer Jesse Reid's heavyweight fighters. They went the full eight rounds, but scores weren't kept.

2) Aaron Williams (191 lbs., Las Vegas, Nev.) def. Doug Robertson (217 lbs., Tyler, Tex.) by unanimous decision in a four-round bout.

3) Ivan Rodriguez (122 lbs., Chicago, Ill.) def. Raphael Torres (126 lbs., Oklahoma City, Okla.) by TKO — referee stopped the bout at 2:15 of the third round. Scheduled for six rounds.

4) Darrell Provo (222 lbs., Houston, Tex.) def. Gary Butler (233 lbs., Dallas, Tex.) by TKO — referee stopped fight at 2:55 of the first round. Scheduled for four rounds.

And the one everyone came to see:

5) NWBA Lightweight Champion Shawn Plessis (140 lbs., Sparwood, B.C.) def. Lee Caigle (132 lbs., Oklahoma City, Okla.) by unanimous decision in an eight-round bout. All three judges scored the fight 80-72 for Plessis.

Plessis also got word before this fight that he will likely be getting a shot at a vacant Canadian lightweight title in the very near future. Details have not been worked out yet, but his camp would definitely like to get that fight back in Sparwood.

Thanks,
