A 130-pound Superfight?

Post by tiredoldngrey »

Has any one given much thought to a bout between Azumah Nelson and Brian Mitchell? I've only seen Mitchell in the two Tony Lopez fights and I read about all of his defenses. My impression is of a guy that can hit ok but is no dealer of doom, a skillful but not flashy boxer, adept at all aspects, not great at any. A pro. I always thought that Nelson wasn't quite the puncher he was made out to be-though he could hit- and he wasn't the skillfull boxer some would've had one believe. He was very durable and took a good punch but he could be hurt and did fall down. My feeling is that Mitchell would have an edge, a clear edge, when they boxed at a distance and that he was to smart to get drawn in, so I believe Mitchell would win on points

I saw Mitchell a number of times. He always seemed in top condition, fought anyone anywhere, was very durable and never eased up. he wasn't gifted with a a single KO punch or blinding hand speed but he was a very consistent performer with a great boxing mind. there was nothing flash about him but he was a great pro.

I think Nelson just had that little bit extra. My prediction would be for a close 15 round verdict to Azumah.
