Re: Matchup Forum-- the greatest of all time match up
Ali VS Louis - I think Ali peppers Louis throughout the fight and Louis can't catch up to him and put him away. Ali by unanimous decision. I think young Ali has an easier time with Louis than older Ali (Ali-Foreman period)
Jack Johnson VS Max Baer - Fireworks. Dempsey wants it more, and KOs Baer in three. Ooops, you said Johnson. Um... I think Johnson has the defensive skills to stay away from Baer's power and win it by decision.
Jersey Joe VS Mike Tyson - I don't think Walcott can keep Tyson off or knock him out, Tyson by KO.
James J Braddock VS Ezzard Charles - no comment.
Jack Dempsey VS Rocky Marciano - I think Dempsey has the power and killer instinct (best ever killer instinct) to put Rocky down for the count. But if not, then Rocky will wear him down and win it late. Fight ends in brutal KO, one way or the other.
Frazier VS Holmes - Frazier by KO. Holmes can't keep Frasier outside or put him down, Frasier brutalises Holmes for a late round KO (on the scorecards, fight is close when it ends).
Tunney VS Patterson - Very interesting matchup. Never thought about this one before. Wow, that fight would be something else. I'd give Tunney an edge because of his superior ring intelligence (to my mind), but this would be an insane, tactical fight, a boxing master class to end all boxing master classes.
Langford VS Spinks - no comment.
Foreman Vs Liston - Foreman can outslug Liston and has better timing. In the second or third round Liston tries the "junk on the gloves" trick, but Foreman survives, and becomes even more mean and angry. Liston goes down by brutal KO in rounds 4-6.
Nice fantasy matchups, man.

Ali v. Louis, has to be the mythical matchup all-timer.I'll take Ali but cheer for Joe.
Moore v. Foster,Moore survives a few early knockdowns to decimate Foster.
Monzon v. Greb.Greb swarms while Monzon boxes, who knows?
Hearns v. McCallum.Tommy at his best weight against a guy many feel was the best 154 lber.
Robinson v. Leonard.Robinson of course but Leonard was great.
Duran v. Pryor.Hawk finds Duran is a lot harder to hit and out box than Arguello.Duran by late KO after battering Pryor's body.
Duran v. Benny,Benny was a great lightweight but Duran was the greatest.
Arguello v. Chavez,at 130 this would've been Armageddon.
The best match at 126 happened 4 times and Pep lost 3,how about giving the beloved Sanchez a shot at Saddler.
Gomez v. Barrera or Morales.Wilfredo beats either but you know they ain't going easy.
Zarate v. Olivares,a holocaust at bantam.
Wilde v. Perez,2 bombers let loose.
Many, many more great fantasy fights but these are the ones that usually come to me first in each division.

what..where did those guys coem from....
Ali VS Louis: There's a really good chance that a young (pre-67) Ali suceeds in doing what Conn almost did, and outbox Joe. On the other hand, Ali was never as fundamentally sound a boxer ans Conn (carried his hands low, pulled straight back, etc.), and Louis could have been just the guy to make him pay for it. A Super-close pick that I'd give a SLIGHT edge to Ali in, but I've got a hunch if the yfought ten times someone would come away from it 6-4.
Jack Johnson VS Max Baer: Good fight if Baer shows up focused and ready to fight, but I'd have to give it to Johnson...with lots of holding to smother Baer's power.
Jersey Joe VS Mike Tyson: Call me crazy, but I actually lean towards Walcott (in his prime, not the time of the Marciano fights--or even Charles). It's either an early KO for Mike (with 5-6 rounds), or Walcott wins.
James J Braddock VS Ezzard Charles: Are you serious? Charles, of course. Now if it were Charles vs. James J. Jeffires...
Jack Dempsey VS Rocky Marciano:Wow. I just don't know. I've thought about this one quite a bit, but I still see it as a toss-up. I'd give Demspey an edge in power but Marciano the edge in chin--maybe in conditioning, too, if the fight goeson a while. The deciding factor might well be Marciano's propensity for cutting.
Frazier VS Holmes: A tough fight for both guys, but I'm going with Holmes on close points, and getting pretty roughed up along the way.
Tunney VS Patterson: An interesting matchup. I'll Tunney to outbox Floyd in this one. Tunney had so few fights at heavyweight that he can be sorta tough to rate among all-time great heavies, but it's a bit easier in the case of Patterson, who's about his siaze.
Langford VS Spinks: I'll take Langford over Spinks.
Foreman Vs Liston: Yikes! Two seriously scary guys. First I think George'd be too strong and hard-hitting for him, then I rember what Sonny did to a prime Cleveland Williams and I'm not so sure. Another tossup that I wouldn't miss for anything.

I should've paid attention better and just remarked on the ones listed.
Ali/Louis slight edge to Ali,I bet it's closer than Ali fans might think.
Baer/Johnson probably a clear win for Johnson.
Walcott/Tyson hard to say but a young Tyson might blow him out.
Charles/Braddock Charles!
Dempsey/Marciano very hard pick in my opinion,I'll go with Mardciano by decision.
Frazier/Holmes Frazier could win but so could Holmes.I'll pick Frazier as Larry doesn't really hit hard enough to discourage Smokin' Joe.
Patterson/Tunney Floyd by decision.
Langford/Spinks not sure
Foreman/Liston Sonny will think the Ali fights were easy compared to Big George beating on him.
