We have 47 bouts for Chick Suggs and 14 for Oscar. When I went to enter number 15 for Oscar it had already been entered as a fight for Chick (against Johnny Ryan in Erie, PA, 8 June 1928). My source is the New York Times. It describes Oscar as being from New Bedford. Our database gives New Bedford as the hometown of Chick Suggs. Seems like the one fighter to me. Anyone have any more information. Colin.

I've only saw Chick Suggs name listed as "Chick." Kevin Smith would know for sure whether, or not they're the same person.

"Hatless" Dave Lumiansky managed Chick Suggs (at least for a good while). Lumiansky also managed "Panama" Al Brown for a long time. Lumiansky's base of operations was New Bedford, Mass.
