Danny pleading for a second chance

Along the lines of:

"My wife's nan has even been verbally abused in a supermarket in Manchester because of Frank's comments.

"I'm hoping to talk to him soon. I apologise for not pulling out sooner and I hope he can apologise to me for the things he said."

Williams says he was ill for several days before the fight, but was determined not to pull out.

"My parents and wife knew I was ill and were telling me to pull out. But I was so excited about knocking him out and being on ITV."

I am of two minds whether he can beat Skelton, but it is a fight I still want to see.

Skelton loses his snap very quickly, and just drives himself on after that with very little in the way of technique. It's not a style that will keep him unbeaten for too much longer.

Williams would embarrass him.

Not at 20 stone 3lbs he wouldnt and I think he knew it hence the last minute pullout.

The weight was surprising even for Danny but it wouldn't have automatically made him a beaten man, not against one so mediocre as Skelton.

Come on Frank who else is Skelton going to fight?

Danny deserves another chance, he is not a bottle job. It was terrible timing to pullout and you can understand why allegedly was going off his tits as it ruined his BIG night, but if you'm ill, you'm ill. Dannys only mistake was not pulling out sooner

Why would he bottle it for Skelton and not Tyson?

I wasn't impressed with the way Skelton said that he would never fight Williams after the Krence fight

Because nobody expected him to beat Tyson so the pressure was off. He's fallen apart in this way in the past when so much is expected of him.

How else can anyone explain weighing over 20 stone? They were worried about Skeltons strength perhaps? Or he was in poor condition and bottled it at the last minute.

The benefits of coming in that heavy would be counteracted by the loss of speed and mobility and of course stamina.

I think at that weight Skelton would have clubbed him to a stoppage in the middle rounds.

Danny's punch resistance and confidence (which are obviously tied in) give the impression of being at an all-time low.

And that's saying something.

I think Skelton may have stopped him in the first two rounds.

Dannys got too much skill and boxing know how to beat Skelton. The power behind a 20 stone Danny Williams would take Skeltons head off.

He had his chance. He treated the Warren and, more importantly, the fans like schmucks and now he should just piss off and take the money he made from Klitchko and spend it on KFC as it looks he has been doing in "training"

I think the fact he weighed in at a 283 lbs says it all, if that's his idea of hard training, then he's got no future. Christ, he was in the mid 240's a few years ago.

Exactly. Look how fat and pedestrian he looked against Klitschko, he was 13lbs heavier than that.

Yes I heard that to and to be honest I thought, if true is out of order and the BBBofC should speak to Danny Williams about it. The fact that Heavyweights have no upper weight limit is totally irelevant in my opinion.

Fighters weigh-in for a reason and cheating the scales is always wrong regardless of your weight division. Didn't Tony Sibson do a simular thing when he challenged Dennis Andries for the WBC Light-Heavyweight Title? I'm a Sibbo fan but thought he was wrong to do that.

As for Williams getting a fight with Skelton?

I to am in two minds about the situation as part of me wants to see the fight, I was really looking forward to it and was annoyed when it was canceled. Danny is going to struggle to covince Warren, Skelton, ITV etc to give him another shot. I can fully understand Skeltons post fight comments because even as a fan part of me feels Danny has 'blown his chance'.

As for people hasseling Dannys family in public thats completely out of order and the people who did that are a bunch of loadmouthed cowards.

Everyone has gone overboard with their comments against Danny, he's hardly the first fighter to pull out of a fight close to fight time. The mistake he made was leaving it so late, but that was partly becuase he was at first prepared to go through with the fight despite being ill.
Warrens nasty comments outweigh the inconvienience Danny caused him... to label a fighter a coward is a terrible insulkt and coming from the fighters own promoter it is both outrageous and totally unproffessional on Frwanks part.

I have posted this before but he pulled out of a fight on the same day against Ralf Packheiser a while ago - 3 years ago at a guess, I seem to recall he was made to pay Packheisers training expenses. Most fighters dont do a single same day pullout in their careers - 2 is a habit. And that coupled with his well documented mental fragility and his ridiculous weight at the weigh-in dont do much to back up his story.

If he was so ill with flu the doctor would surely have noticed when he did the medical on the friday.

He still deserves another chance... they could make him put up the value of his purse so if he pulls out again he has to pay a hefty waiver. I've watched the guy for years and he deserves the benefit of the doubt... its very easy to call a fighter a coward, but few people understand the courage it takes to get into the ring... even more so if you lack confidence like Danny.

Its a rediculous now Danny is claiming that his wife phoned Frank behind his back.

In bed with the sheets off and still sweating. He didn't look bad the day before (weighing).

Sorry, I've stuck by him in the past, but somethings are clearly not adding up. He said before he was too ill to speak to Frank, now he was saying he would have gone through with the fight (despite his illness) if his wife hadn't phoned Frank behind his back.
