Cardiff boxing clubs !!!!
Can anyone give me any info on gyms in Cardiff ?
My 8 year old is starting to show an interest in his punch bag I bought him last chistmas, but hes getting bored of that now so he started whacking his younger brother instead !!
So Im thinking of taking him to the nearest gym to channel his energy in the right direction before theres a bloodbath in my house !!!!!!

splott has been the most consistant in recent years.
highfields, rightly so is tough the janes bros train there.
guess what there is two st jos, one of which is in newport.
I have a novice senior in college that trains in the cardiff one.
Prince of wales A.B.C. is another good gym boys are well schooled.

Prince of Wales regularly featured in the WABA's even back when I was fighting (many years ago now). Consistently good gym.nicnut wrote:splott has been the most consistant in recent years.

Anyone remember Courthouse ABC in Merthyr?
Is that the only ABC in Merthyr - I believe on is going strong now.
Prince of Wales is very good as pointed out - well I am going on WABA finalist rate. Of course, even if the reputation might be great it still might not suit you - some ABA's are a stickler for almost fighting to a uniform style, which might not suit you.

There are 2 in Merthyr now. There's the Ex-Servicemen's club and another one in Dowlais (forgotten the name at the mo).
As nicnut says the POW boys are 'well schooled' however, it does not produce a stream of boxers with the same style. They are/were all taught sound basic skills but had their own individual styles.

I wasn't singling out POW, just whatever club the patriots lad chooses that if it doesn't work out, don't be afraid to go elsewhere.Owain wrote:There are 2 in Merthyr now. There's the Ex-Servicemen's club and another one in Dowlais (forgotten the name at the mo).
