Just realized that Bartley Madden and George Christian are missing a fight from their records. On July 16, 1923 at Croke Park in Dublin Bartley Madden KO'd a strangely pacifistic George Christian in 3 rounds.
I have the film of the fight. Christian wasnt strangley passive, he was drunk from the right hands Madden kept bouncing off his skull. One of those right hands drove him into the canvas like he was shot in the head by a gun. If I remember correctly he got up and was blasted out for the count.
I never said he was a killer (not that it took a killer to beat Christian), I just stated what was in the film. What in Christians record makes you suspect his loss to Madden was anything other than what the record and the film reflect which was a one a one-sided blowout. And as for "those days": Madden was experience something a resurgence in his reputation after having beaten the hell out of Fred Fulton despite being outweighed by about 30 pounds. Get a copy of the fight and youll see Christian just gets blitzed and cant deal with it.
