At last I've figured out why they are still creeping in. It's when someone submits a bout and gets a double bounce on the keyboard or mouse. This means that two processes are initiated and the second one checks the database before the first one has written to it so both commit the entries. Of course now I know what's happening I still haven't got a clue how to fix it.

John:

First of all, let me remind you that I know virtually nothing about computer software programming. Wish I did. With that caveat, may I suggest the following attempt at a "fix-it."

As I mentioned in another thread, my own experience of my PC stalling or freezing while trying to enter bouts often seems to be associated to some "picture loading/hit-box" thingamajig. At least that is the essential substance of the text I see as the bottom of my screen, in some kind of status bar using IE while I site with arms folded, waiting for the bout to enter the database.

Is there some hidden counter associated with the "Insert Bout" page?

So, my suggestion is to delete all hidden counters and/or commercial banners/links (like that omnipresent Casino advertisement) from the "Insert Bout" page only. Would that work?

It's not the sponsor's fault. (I have no connection). Normally they provide income for the sites and have contractual arrangements. Microsoft should be able to help, if they are willing. This is giving them a black eye. In the meantime, I suggest a lot of patience and double-checking the input. This "freeze" problem happens on others sites, also.
