I like this guy, i'm very excited about him. He took a few shots tonight, but obviously he's just learning and it's all good experience. 14 pro fights for a 20 year old isn't bad going either in my opinion. I think this kid is going to go somewhere. I feel he has allready surpassed Kevin Mitchell as the main young prospect.

What a good professional this young guy is turning into. Azad was no mug and looked fit and up for it before the bell, so it wasn't too surprising to see him nearly claim a share of the first round (maybe he did on some people's card), but the quality punches of John took their toll and according to boxrec he is the first person to stop the Russian based Azerbaijy (sp). Jim Watt's 'sickener' phrase is becoming a little cliched, but it was entirely appropriate here because that's exactly what happened - Murray's variations of punches sickened the fight right out of Azizov.

Only 'fault' with Murray would probably be the head movement - if he could roll a little more subtley (nothing drastic or OTT or that would bring its own problems) then he could be very hard to hit.

I'd probably agree that as of now he is a better prospect than Kevin Mitchell (who also won last night), as I don't think the Dagenham prosepct has a win as good as that Florida one against Johnny Walker that Murray has. Can't wait till these two meet for the British title.

Yes, I like the look of Murray very much.

I thought Azad looked a good division smaller than Murray and was pleasantly surprissed to see in his fight record he has been at and around this weight for quite a time,

A very good match-up that keeps Murray learning.
After the excellent showing against Johnny Walker last time it could have been easy for him to get complacent, by believing the hype that followed.

But good on his match-maker for choosing an opponent that showed things that Murray needs to learn and develop, head movement the obvious and maybe his footwork, and his work rate did not seem as high last night.

But overall a very good learning fight that doesn`t stink like other match-ups that the bigger hyped prospects are getting fed.

John Murray looks an excellent prospect, and the people around him really seem to know what they are doing

Exactly, Murray is only 14-0 or whatever which is roughly the same as Mitchell yet Mitchell has yet to fight a guy with a winning record i believe. Murray's opponent last night was 6-1 and Murray and Mitchell are around the same age so for Mitchell being wrapped in cotton wool i don't think is necessary.

I had to turn the sound off during the Murray fight though, that guy in the crowd was doing my head in screaming "There's only one John Murray...." over and over again 8)

i think its about time kevin mitchell steps up in class,this kid is class but needs to box better lads now,think murray as boxed better lads than mitchell.but i think kevin is the better boxer and will go further in this game ,this kid can bang.murrey was getting hit with some easy shots that he should of sliped.

Considering Azad was only brought in a few days ago, when the BBBC refused to sanction the original opponent, you have to say he wasn't a bad test at all.

Murray looks like he could go places, doesn't he? Plenty of talent, but more importantly, he really seems prepared to listen and learn. Had a few problems in the first round, but adjusted quickly and really started to work Azad over. Doesn't seem to be falling into any really bad habits, and seems to have a good all round game.

Definately put him ahead of Mitchell at the moment, but they're both young, and that has all the makings of a cracking domestic clash in the not too distant future.

Did you hear John Rawling call Kevin Mitchell a shoe in for the Young boxer of the year on the ITV show. Ummm don't think so. There is Murray and a few others to consider, but especially Murray.

What was the ITV commentary like last night? Still kissing arse or a little bit more neutral? I must say i much prefer SKY, they just seem to know what they are doing and you get used to the analysis and commantary teams despite there flaws. I have never seen Johnny Nelson so excitable, he is usually a clear and concise analyser but last night he could barely get a sentence out

john murray did look good yesterday.. but got caught too easy.. i no his still learning and he will do well.. i peronally think he could reach up to the european levl and thats the furthest i think he will go..

Murray style is more suited to the American Route which would be easier way for him to get 2 the top then going the traditional route there is some tough akward European fighters out there .
No wonder Oscar de la hoya kept well away from Roman Karmazin the yanks Have the tv Network and dictate and its only wen there is an exceptional European fighter that they crack America.
Murray already impressed on his usa debut and wonder could he do wat Wayne Mcullogh did and base himself in the states other fighters Like Mathew Macklin and Carl Johannson have fought over there recentley would this trend continue if they settled there and made an impact.

Yeah, that guy was sat about 5 metres behind me. Wish I had had a volume button close to hand :)

Murray looked good and looks very promising for the future. Would just LOVE to see him and Mitchell square off in an eight rounder now. It would be some sight!

Did the streaker manage to get on TV ? He charged the ring just as the Walker-Moore fight ended.
