Any more thoughts on tonight's undercard

Post by jomothepure »

In particular:

Dimitrenko 19-0 (12) takes on Vaughn Bean. After destroying Sidon inside two rounds in his last outing, Vaughn should be a more durable opponent, but could Dimitrenko be the only boxer other than Vitali to stop him? Surely Dimitrenko has claims to be a future titlist. He's a big boy at 6'7 and is only 23.

Bidenko 14-2 (9) His record may seem tarnished, but he was beating the undefeated Virchis up until the TKO in 12. His other loss was when he took Valuev all the way to 12 rounds in only his 4th fight (and Valuev's 28th!) Surely that's no mean feat.

Chagaev 16-0-1 (13) The smallest of the three on tonight, and for me, the least impressive (opponent wise at least.) Beat Stacy Goodson's Tommy Connelly 2nd last time out over 2 rounds, and Connelly will probably fair the same when he fights Meehan tonight.

I'm not going to say "will there be an upset" tonight with any of these three, but does anyone (especially you honorary British who grace us here but have innexplicably been born a little more to the east) think one of these europeans could soon follow up the Klitchko's in making an assault on the US heavys?

If Dimentrenko had a little bit more devil about him, I would really be championing him.

One of the most talented heavyweight prospects around - much much better than Greenberg.

I liked the way he finished of Sidon.

Dimitrenko beat Vaughn "Has" Bean 95-93, 95-93, 96-92 Close scoring, seems like Vaughn pushed him reasonably well.

Chagaev KO'd Hipolito in one round, Kali Meehan disposed of Tommy Connelly in three and Tares Bidenko went the full ten in beating Nuri Sefari.

Bean lost a point for a low blow too, so it was pretty close
