What World Champion was never on a cover of THE RING until 50 years after he lost the title?

haven't looked but starting in 22 means that with a 50 year balance that 1972 could have been the earliest magazine. It then has to be someone for one reason or another who had revived interest for readers. LaMotta comes to mind because of the great Scorcese film, but he didn't lose his title until 1951 (just checked) and I think the film came out in the late 1980s... so not quite enough time.
I'm trying to think of someone else who has had a resurgence. Braddock has already been picked.
It could of course be from one of their HOF features... So someone from a lower weight category getting their dues later on. Someone like Panama Al Brown?
Maybe my thinking might help someone get this becasue it's really quite annoying.
Great question Ric

I know "Panama" Al Brown was never on a cover by himself, but he is on a 1980's cover along with several other fighters!
Panama Al Brown it is! He was being inducted into THE RING's Boxing Hall of Fame, and finally made the cover August 1985--50 years after he had lost the bantamweight title. Strange that a guy generally recognized as Champion from 1929-35 was never featured on a cover during his reign.

I wonder why that is?. Surely Brown was recognised as an outstanding champion during his reign so its strange that he never made the cover during his long reign.
Is there anywhere where you can access the images of the RINGS covers from the 20s and 30s etc?.....
