You're probably correct, although I'm not sure what your point is here. 9-3 or 8-4 for RJJ sounds about right. And no he didn't completely dominate him, but he did win a pretty clear cut win. I have seen the Roy - Ruiz fight many times. It impresses me as a spectacle, because seriously, Roy didn't beat him by all that much. I will preach this until other people start watching the fight again, because clearly, if you think Roy pitched some shutout, or even dominated him, you are wrong and haven't seen the fight since the night it happened. People who scored it on that night were generous to Roy for even surviving against such a bigger man. I left the bar I was watching it at that night thinking Roy won by a wide margin, but when I saw it only a week later on TV, I was less than impressed.
It was a very uneventful fight overall anyway, but nonetheless a close one. I've scored it, and watched it over and over, and honestly, Roy really doesn't beat him by all that much, unless you score points for the inactive moments where Roy would just taunt and show off. Don't call me crazy, because the punch stats don't lie in backing me up on this one. Roy only averaged 2 more punches landed per round against Ruiz, and in some rounds he didn't even outland him. I have Ruiz winning at least 3 or 4 rounds, and there are a couple that could easily be called even. If Ruiz was the big draw going into that fight, and Roy the repugnant oaf who nobody liked, Ruiz could have gotten a gift decision on that night. I only say it because the fight really was close enough for it to be true.
Stop ignoring the truth. Watch the fight again. Roy wins but it certainly isn't a dominant victory by any means.
I think Toney actually put more of a whuppin on Ruiz, but that fight wasn't a blowout either. I think unless you KO Ruiz, ala Tua, he's not going to get blown out by anybody. But both Toney and RJJ beat him, and beat him by comfortable margins.
