Young Stribling

I have been researching a lot of late 1920s newspapers recently. And I am constantly seeing articles about Young Stribling. Particularly around late January 1929 when he was considered the top contender for the heavyweight title.

These articles mention that he was also a basketball player and loved to fly planes. He was also into motorcycles (which killed him at a young age), etc. This guy seemed to love action and adventure. I'm not gay ("not that there is anything wrong with that" ), but he was also a handsome man from all the photos I have seen of him. And he had a ton of fights during his short but remarkable career. What he could have achieved if he hadn't died so young, I cannot imagine. (He left behind a widow and two young girls.)

Stribling scored his second non-title victory over Maxie Rosenbloom shortly before he died. That win put him back in line for another shot at the light heavyweight title.

What does your personal taste for his appearance have to do with his quality as a fighter?

He fought a lot of guys , not a lot of good ones, and looks like he burned out early in my opinion
